Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> is no stranger to life on the road, but for her record-breaking Eras Tour<\/em>, she prepared like never before.<\/p>\n

Joking that she toured \u201clike a frat guy\u201d in the past, Swift told TIME<\/em><\/a> in her 2023 Person of the Year cover story that she \u201cknew this tour was harder than anything I\u2019ve ever done before by a long shot.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Eras Tour<\/em> made headlines before it officially began in March, with a Ticketmaster crash<\/a> leaving millions of dedicated fans disappointed in November 2022. Swift performs for more than three hours, taking concertgoers on a journey through her career with intricate set design and 16 costume changes.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The fans] had to work really hard to get the tickets,\u201d Swift said. \u201cI wanted to play a show that was longer than they ever thought it would be, because that makes me feel good leaving the stadium.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her training began six months before the first show at Dogpound, a celebrity gym with an annual membership worth $36,000. The gym created a custom program for Swift, incorporating strength, conditioning and weights to get her in Eras Tour<\/em> shape.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day I would run on the treadmill, singing the entire setlist out loud,\u201d Swift added. \u201cFast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with her intensive cardio routine, Swift completed three months of dance training with La La Land<\/em> choreographer Mandy Moore<\/strong>, whom she met through pal Emma Stone<\/strong>, to help get the choreography \u201cin her bones.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLearning choreography is not my strong suit,\u201d Swift said. \u201cI wanted to be so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans, and not lose my train of thought.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swift\u2019s strict wellness routine even included changes to her diet. She was \u201creally disciplined\u201d about her drinking \u201cfor a couple months\u201d leading up to her tour in order to stay sharp. \u201cDoing that show with a hangover, I don\u2019t want to know that world.\u201d Swift joked, confessing that she let herself have a \u201cfun night\u201d at the 2023 Grammy Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While her preparation prior to the tour was crucial, even more important is her post-show rest period. \u201cI do not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there. It\u2019s a dream scenario,\u201d she said, describing how she recovers after a weekend of Eras Tour<\/em> shows. \u201cI can barely speak because I\u2019ve been singing for three shows straight. Every time I take a step my feet go crunch, crunch, crunch<\/em> from dancing in heels.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTaylor Swift launched her first concert tour in more than four years in March\u2014 and positively slayed with her fashion choices. The \u201cAnti-Hero\u201d songstress, 33, kicked off her tour on Friday, March 17, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona \u2014 where February\u2019s Super Bowl LVII was held. The\u00a0Eras Tour, which celebrated all of Swift\u2019s [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fans who weren\u2019t able to get Eras Tour<\/em> tickets were still able to join in on the fun with the release of the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour<\/em> concert film. In its opening weekend, it became the top-grossing concert film of all time in North America<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With her first U.S. and international legs complete, Swift is taking a deserved performance break, but she lives by the motto \u201cthe show must go on.\u201d<\/p>\n
