The \u2018Creed III\u2019 actor, 34, started his trial over an alleged attack on his former partner Grace Jabbari on Monday (04.12.23) at Manhattan Criminal Court, New York, and Tuesday\u2019s (05.12.23) hearing of the case was told he would allegedly fly into a \u201cviolent\u201d rage during his relationship with her. <\/p>\n
Grace told the jury about Jonathan \u2013 who she started dating in August 2021 after they met on the set of \u2018Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania\u2019 she first became \u201cscared\u201d of him in December 2021 when she brought up the fact that her ex-boyfriend had a dog. <\/p>\n
She claimed the actor allegedly berated her for bringing up the ex\u2019s pet, saying that it was \u201cembarrassing\u201d that she had dated him, adding: \u201cIt was the first time I felt scared of him. I knew to never mention my ex again or anyone I had dated before.\u201d<\/p>\n
In another incident that allegedly happened in England in September 2022, Grace testified she went to a bar with a female friend and later invited her back to the home she shared with Jonathan \u2013 and said he became irate with Jabbari and confronted her, allegedly stepping on her earphones and saying that she was \u201cstupid if she didn\u2019t know what she had done\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nHe was also accused of telling Grace to leave their house before he \u201cran up\u201d to their bedroom and began breaking objects. <\/p>\n
\nJonathan was arrested on 25 March after he and Jabbari got into a domestic dispute while taking a taxi home from a bar in Brooklyn. <\/p>\n
\nHe faces three charges of misdemeanor assault, aggravated harassment and harassment. <\/p>\n
\nJonathan pleaded not guilty and has maintained his innocence throughout this case. <\/p>\n
\nHis attorney Priya Chaudhry has claimed Grace was the aggressor in the cab where he is alleged to have attacked her and dubbed her a scorned and \u201cpsycho\u201d girlfriend who was jealous that the actor was texting another woman. <\/p>\n
\nIn October, Grace was charged with assault and criminal mischief for the incident in March, but prosecutors are expected to dismiss the charges against her. <\/p>\n
\nJonathan\u2019s trial is set to run for two weeks and if convicted he faces up to a year in prison.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
