After a long film career, Nicolas Cage<\/strong> <\/a>is getting ready to explore new sides of his craft.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel that I\u2019ve, at this point \u2014 after 45 years of doing this \u2026 I feel I\u2019ve pretty much said what I\u2019ve had to say with cinema,\u201d Cage, 59, explained in an interview with Uproxx<\/em> <\/a>published on Monday, December 4. \u201cAnd I\u2019d like to leave on a high note and say, \u2018Adios.\u2019 I think I have to do maybe three or four more movies before I can get there, and then hopefully switch formats and go into some other way of expressing my acting.\u201d<\/p>\n

The National Treasure<\/em> actor went on to share that he would\u2019ve stopped acting after filming Dream Scenario<\/em>, which premiered in November but there are \u201cother contracts that [he has] to fulfill.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I am going to be very severe and very astringent on the selection process moving forward. But for me to do another movie, I do want to explore other formats,\u201d he told the outlet, noting that he is interested in making \u201cimmersion streaming with episodic television\u201d part of his resume.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMost people have thought about giving up their jobs at one time or another \u2014 including some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest stars. During a 2019 interview with Australian Men\u2019s Health, Chris Hemsworth admitted that he considered leaving acting behind after his role in 2009\u2019s Star Trek sparked fewer opportunities than he\u2019d hoped. \u201cI was about to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI have seen things that can be done now with characters and the time they\u2019re given to express themselves,\u201d he continued. \u201c I saw Bryan Cranston<\/strong> stare at a suitcase for an hour on one episode of Breaking Bad<\/em>. We don\u2019t have time to do that in a feature film, so maybe television is the next best step for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

After moving on from film, Cage wants to focus on spending \u201cquality time\u201d with his family. The actor shares son Weston 32, with ex Christina Fulton<\/strong>, Kal-El, 18, with ex-wife Alice Kim<\/strong> and 15-month-old daughter August with wife Riko Shibata<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to be 60 next month and my dad died at 75. So it\u2019s like, if I\u2019m lucky, I have more years than he did, but I don\u2019t know,\u201d Cage shared. \u201cWhat\u2019s important is my children and I have a baby daughter. And if I can find an episodic show to do that stays in one place where I don\u2019t have to keep leaving, we can all be together. That, on a personal level, would be great.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Cage has brought up his retirement plans. In April 2018, the actor shared that he wants to focus more on other endeavors besides acting.<\/p>\n
