While Bam Margera<\/strong><\/a> made headlines as one of the outrageous cohosts on MTV\u2019s\u00a0Jackass<\/i><\/a>, he has admittedly struggled over the years.<\/p>\n \u201cIt just seems like everything at one point came crashing down,\u201d Margera \u2014 real name Brandon Cole Margera<\/a> \u2014 said during an April 2016 appearance on\u00a0Family Therapy With Dr. Jenn<\/i><\/a>, revealing his struggles with substance abuse<\/a>. \u201cThat\u2019s when it wasn\u2019t even drinking for the fun or for the social part of it. It was just drinking because [of] total depression, kinda.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time, the Pennsylvania native noted that the death of his late MTV costar<\/a>, Ryan Dunn<\/a>, was a contributing factor.<\/p>\n \u201c[It was] just the fact of [me] just being completely lost<\/a>,\u201d Margera added. \u201cLike, \u2018Everything sucks, and the only thing that doesn\u2019t suck is this bottle of Johnnie Walker.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Since then, the former skateboarder has been candid about how his challenges have affected his family, including his wife, Nicole Boyd<\/strong><\/a>, and their son, Phoenix<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cDr. Phil, I need your help in a big, big way,\u201d Margera wrote via\u00a0Instagram\u00a0in August 2021<\/a>, referring to TV personality Dr. Phil McGraw<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cMy family is in shambles. It\u2019s worse than it\u2019s ever been. #dr.phil\u00a0bam margera needs you to save family from falling apart for good.\u201d<\/p>\n In the since-deleted post, the\u00a0Viva La Bam\u00a0<\/i>alum told the talk show host he \u201ccan\u2019t stand\u201d his wife<\/a>, whom he married in 2013.<\/p>\n \u201c[Our son is] the best and I love him to death, and Nicki knows that. And if we separate, I know she\u2019s gonna use him as bait. I ain\u2019t playing that f\u2013king game, so you can have him,\u201d Margera alleged at the time. \u201cThe only person I believe is you, [Dr. Phil]. When I watch you, I\u2019m like, \u2018That\u2019s what I would have said! That\u2019s what I would have said!\u2019 The only person that I will believe on the planet is Dr. Phil.\u201d<\/p>\n After completing several treatment programs<\/a>, Margera celebrated one year of sobriety in May 2022.<\/p>\n \u201cONE YEAR of treatment!\ud83e\udd18\ud83d\udc9c<\/span>,\u201d he wrote via Instagram<\/a> at the time,\ud83d\udc9c<\/span>\u201d adding \u201cF\u2014k Year,\u201d \u201cBam\u2019s Back\u201d and \u201cBam\u2019s Free\u201d hashtags to his post.<\/p>\n However, the Gnarkill musician\u2019s struggles made headlines one month later after it was reported that Margera fled an in-patient treatment program in Florida, where he has since been missing. According to a police report, obtained by TMZ<\/a>, he was unhappy with the facility\u2019s services after arriving under a court order.<\/p>\n \u201cAddiction treatment is often a bumpy road. Nikki Margera and their son Phoenix hope he will turn up quickly and re-dedicate himself to sober living \u2014 for himself and for his family,\u201d Boyd\u2019s attorney, David Glass<\/strong>, told\u00a0Us Weekly\u00a0<\/i>in a statement at the time. \u201cNikki remains dedicated to supporting Bam in his recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n
