Game of Thrones<\/em> spinoff House of the Dragon<\/em><\/a> will dive into an epic civil war, the season 2 trailer revealed.<\/p>\n

HBO released the first teaser for the second season of House of the Dragon<\/em> during the network\u2019s CCXP23 panel in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday, December 2. The one-minute trailer includes several dramatic clips of our favorite characters in Westeros.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been more than a year since the show debuted, so let\u2019s remember that the first season of the drama (which follows the Targaryen family 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones<\/em><\/a>) left off with chaos following King Viserys\u2019 (Paddy Considine<\/strong>) death. Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke<\/strong>) helped her son Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynne-Carney<\/strong>) usurp the Iron Throne. His half-sister (and Alicent\u2019s former best friend) Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D\u2019Arcy<\/strong><\/a>) wanted to avoid a war and negotiate with her younger brother despite Viserys clearly naming her his heir. However, Lucerys Velaryon (Elliot Grihault<\/strong>) was killed by Aemond Targaryen\u2019s (Ewan Mitchell<\/strong>) dragon, ending any good will Rhaenyra had toward Alicent and her half-siblings.<\/p>\n

In the House of the Dragon season 2 trailer, Rhaenyra looks out at the water broodingly while Aegon walks toward the Iron Throne. Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans<\/strong>) is heard saying, \u201cErrors were made in the hours following King Viserys\u2019 death.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMore fire, more blood. We\u2019re counting down the days until Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon returns for season 2. The HBO series, based on George R.R. Martin\u2018s novel Fire & Blood, is expected to have fewer time jumps after the first season spanned more than a decade to explain how Rhaenyra (Emma [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

They are preparing for battle. Troops hold green shields and black flags to indicate their allegiances. Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith<\/strong>) suits up in armor while Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel<\/strong>) beheads someone, presumably a Rhaenyra supporter.<\/p>\n

Alicent doesn\u2019t seem concerned about the bloodshed. \u201cThe war will be fought, many will die, and the victor will eventually ascend the throne,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best<\/strong>) tells Rhaenyra, \u201cThere is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin, and no war so bloody as a war between dragons.\u201d<\/p>\n

New posters for season 2 seemingly give Rhaenyra and Alicent different tag lines. While Rhaenyra\u2019s poster reads \u201cFire to fire,\u201d Alicent\u2019s says \u201cBlood for blood.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with the new posters and trailer, HBO also confirmed several new cast members for House of the Dragon<\/em><\/a>\u2018s second season, including: Clinton Liberty<\/strong> as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna<\/strong> as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew<\/strong> as Hugh, Tom Bennett<\/strong> as Ulf, Tom Taylor<\/strong> as Lord Cregan Stark and Vincent Regan<\/strong> as Ser Rickard Thorne.<\/p>\n
