Golden Bachelor<\/em><\/a> star Gerry Turner<\/strong><\/a> made the wrong choice when he picked Theresa Nist<\/strong><\/a> instead of Leslie Fhima<\/strong><\/a>, according to his dad, Everett Turner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cI had Leslie picked out. For some reason, I just didn\u2019t care for Theresa,\u201d Everett, 92, told The Sun<\/em><\/a> on Friday, December 1. \u201cI was 60 percent for Leslie and 40 percent for Theresa. I couldn\u2019t say why. Right off the bat, Theresa rubbed me the wrong way.\u201d<\/p>\n Everett, who has yet to meet Theresa, 70, added that his opinion \u201cdoesn\u2019t matter\u201d and he\u2019s \u201cbound to like her,\u201d because she\u2019s marrying his son.<\/p>\n He joked, \u201cIf she don\u2019t make him happy, I\u2019ll probably kick her in the butt!\u201d<\/p>\n Everett said that he and his wife, Norma (who goes by Peggy), watched every single episode of The Golden Bachelor<\/em> in support of Gerry, 72, along with several of their friends, where they live in Fort Wayne, Indiana.<\/p>\n However, Everett was alone in his preference toward Leslie, 64, as Peggy, 91, was Team Theresa. She said that she had \u201cTheresa picked out from the start.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI thought so because they had so much in common. His two daughters and granddaughter seemed to like her last night. They are his pride and joy, so he\u2019s listening to them,\u201d Gerry\u2019s stepmother told interviewers.<\/p>\n Everett revealed that he and Peggy learned about Gerry\u2019s decision along with audiences at home because Gerry kept his final choice a secret.<\/p>\n Despite Theresa not being Everett\u2019s first choice, he said that he\u2019s happy for his son regardless.<\/p>\n \u201cI am always tickled to see him. I have always been proud of him. Not only for this Bachelor<\/em> thing. He\u2019s been terrific,\u201d Everett gushed.<\/p>\n Gerry\u2019s father also added that he and Peggy are excited for the upcoming nuptials. The Golden Bachelor<\/em> finale surprised everyone by announcing that Gerry and Theresa\u2019s wedding<\/a> would be aired on TV on January 4, 2024.<\/p>\n He\u2019s also excited to attend the ceremony and said, \u201cWe\u2019ll go anywhere. If he feels she\u2019s the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with, he might as well go ahead and get married.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201c[Gerry] said because of the age, we\u2019re not getting any younger. We don\u2019t want to pass the time up,\u201d Peggy added.<\/p>\n
