It\u2019s not just that they have a lot of hurt feelings or that co-parenting is difficult.<\/p>\n
Meghan is accusing Jim of \u201ccoercive control\u201d after his very public claims about their custody situation.<\/p>\n<\/noscript>Meghan King Edmonds snapped this selfie and posted it to her Instagram page in November of 2019.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nOn Wednesday, February 15, Meghan King took to her Instagram Story to discuss something painful.<\/p>\n
Wiping away tears, she lamented how \u201cnobody really talks about coercive control and the after effects of divorce.\u201d That was just the beginning.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople say, \u2018It\u2019ll get better in time. It\u2019ll get better with time,’\u201d Meghan noted. \u201cIt\u2019s been three years.\u201d<\/p>\nRemember when Meghan King Edmonds and Jim Edmonds were happily married? Feels like ages ago.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nOnline resources refer to coercive control as tactics \u2014 ranging from violence to humiliation \u2014 with the intention of harming, punishing, or frightening the target.<\/p>\n
The implication is that her ex-husband is allegedly using their remaining ties to punish her.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2019When? What time do I have to wait for?\u2019\u201d Meghan asked. \u201cThe lawyers told me that. My parents and coordinator, everyone told me that. It is possible that she is referring to some sort of not-yet-public dispute. If so, her attorney would certainly counsel her against discussing it in public rather than in court.<\/p>\n
At the same time, it is very possible that Meghan is referring, at least in part, to things that we have already heard.<\/p>\n
Jim Edmonds has badmouthed her in almost every conceivable way since the two divorced. It has, as she noted, been years.<\/p>\nJust two days before Jim filed for divorce, Meghan told Bravo\u2019s The Daily Dish that the duo were \u201cworking\u201d on their relationship every day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nRecently, Jim accused Meghan \u2014 on his own and more explicitly through a rep \u2014 of going on a \u201cnarcisism retreat.\u201d<\/p>\n
Allegedly, he changed his Superbowl plans to spend time with the kids, but was unable to. The kids spent that time with a nanny. According to him, anyway.<\/p>\n
Obviously, we cannot verify any part of that, really. But that is what Jim has claimed.<\/p>\nPhoto via Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe \u201cnarcisism retreat\u201d that he describes was just \u2026 Meghan taking a trip to Sedona, Arizona.<\/p>\n
Perhaps her statement that she \u201cfinally found the love of my lifetime: my own self-love,\u201d was what prompted that comment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI opened a new chapter this past weekend, one where I solidified my footprint in the entrepreneurial arena as well as the love department,\u201d Meghan said after the trip.<\/p>\nMeghan King Edmonds has young twin boys at home. Say hello here to Hart and Hayes.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cI am in love \u2026. After trauma (that still continues), after divorce,\u201d Meghan noted.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter everything I\u2019m still standing \u2026 IN SEDONA in the center of a vortex,\u201d she characterized.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo one tells me I can\u2019t do something. I have balls, I have grit, and I will keep on keeping on,\u201d Meghan vowed.<\/p>\nMeghan King Edmonds sits here on the couch and talks to Andy Cohen for an episode of Watch What Happens Live.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cSending up a million prayers of gratitude because words are failing me,\u201d she then announced.<\/p>\n
It is not unusual for exes to loathe each other. Because our society discourages divorce and makes it financially and socially difficult, people often only end a marriage as a last resort.<\/p>\n
This means that people seldom divorce simply because they no longer wish to be married. They often divorce because they cannot stand the thought of remaining married. And if they don\u2019t hate each other by that point, well, the grueling divorce process can bring out the worst in people.<\/p>\nMeghan King has three young kids at home. We\u2019re guessing her life is rather hectic as a result.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nMeghan and Jim are far from the first pair of bitter exes to struggle with co-parenting issues.<\/p>\n
But, even if they aren\u2019t letting their accusatory statements bleed over into how they talk around their kids, this can all impact their children.<\/p>\n
We hope that they are both still thinking of their children as their first priority.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
