Dancing With the Stars<\/em><\/a> couples faced off during the semifinals on Tuesday, November 28 \u2014 and the episode ended with a shocking twist.<\/p>\nEach duo took the stage twice, performing both a ballroom and a Latin-style dance. Vanderpump Rules<\/em> star Ariana Madix<\/strong> and her partner, Pasha Pashkov<\/strong>, kicked things off with a Jive to \u201cRunaway Baby\u201d by Bruno Mars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\u201cYou have everything you need to win this competition,\u201d judge Carrie Ann Inaba<\/strong> told Madix, 38, after the performance.<\/p>\nHowever, Inaba, 55, also noted that she could tell the Bravolebrity is struggling with an injury as she didn\u2019t seem to be going full out with her arm movements. Earlier this month, Madix shared via her Instagram Story that she\u2019d suffered \u201ca back injury on top of [a] foot injury\u201d while rehearsing for DWTS<\/em>.<\/p>\nMadix isn\u2019t the only one who put physical comfort aside during Tuesday\u2019s episode. Jason Mraz<\/strong> got nauseous while rehearsing his Viennese waltz with partner Daniella Karagach<\/strong>, but he persevered.<\/p>\n\u201cI cannot drop down on the leaderboard, so I\u2019m gonna deliver hopefully a flawless performance that people will remember for a long time,\u201d Mraz, 46, said in a confessional ahead of his first dance.<\/p>\n
The judges gave Mraz positive feedback on his Viennese Waltz, but it was his second dance of the night that really wowed them.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not always about perfection, I\u2019m looking for magic. That<\/em> was magic,\u201d Inaba said after getting out of her chair to hug the singer. Derek Hough<\/strong> chimed in: \u201cThat\u2019s the way to make it to the finals right there.\u201d<\/p>\nMraz earned a perfect score for his Paso Doble, a feat that Xochitl Gomez<\/strong> achieved with both of her semifinal dances.<\/p>\n\u201cThere is dancing and there is artistry,\u201d Bruno Tonioli<\/strong> told Gomez, 17, after her Waltz to \u201cLa Vie En Rose\u201d by Lady Gaga<\/strong>. \u201cYou have an amazing future in front of you.\u201d<\/p>\nTonioli, 68, was similarly wowed by Charity Lawson<\/strong>\u2019s Rumba to \u201cLove the Way You Lie Part III\u201d by Skylar Grey<\/strong>. When Hough, 38, told Lawson, 27, that he still thought she could show more emotion, Tonioli interrupted him to disagree.<\/p>\n\u201cShe was on it like Velcro!\u201d he said, putting his arms around Hough. Inaba agreed with Tonioli, telling Lawson she \u201chad the breakthrough\u201d they\u2019d been waiting for.<\/p>\n
Inaba was also impressed by Alyson Hannigan<\/strong>\u2019s jive to \u201cFootloose\u201d by Kenny Logins<\/strong> and gave her a 9 for the first time this season.<\/p>\n\u201cThat was a tough routine, it was long, it was arduous,\u201d she told Hannigan, 49. \u201cI remember week one, and your journey has been fantastic and you really make everybody think that they can dance because you started as a beginner.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the end of the night, cohosts Alfonso Ribeiro<\/strong> and Julianne Hough<\/strong> announced the couples who\u2019d made it to the finals one by one until only Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy<\/strong> and Madix and Pashkov, 37, remained.<\/p>\n\u201cThe couple dancing in the finale will be \u2026 both of you!\u201d Ribeiro, 52, revealed as Madix and Gomez cried with relief.<\/p>\n
