Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> turned down an offer to perform at King Charles III<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s coronation concert in May, author Omid Scobie<\/strong><\/a> claimed in his new book, Endgame.<\/p>\n The royal correspondent did not give a reason for why the \u201cBlank Space\u201d singer, 33, passed on the regal invitation, but her Eras tour<\/a> schedule gives a pretty telling hint.<\/p>\n Taylor was performing shows in Nashville\u2019s Nissan Stadium on May 6, the day of the King\u2019s coronation<\/a>, as well as May 7, the date of the coronation concert.<\/p>\n While the Grammy winner was unable to jet across the pond to be part of the historic event, her former archenemy turned friend<\/a> Katy Perry<\/strong> took the king up on his invitation<\/a>. She sang her hits \u201cRoar\u201d and \u201cFirework\u201d for an audience of over 20,000 people at Windsor Castle, which included the monarch, wife Queen Camilla<\/strong>, Prince William<\/strong> and Princess Kate<\/strong> and their kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte.<\/p>\n Other artists who sang for the royal audience included Katy\u2019s fellow American Idol<\/em> judge Lionel Richie<\/strong>, Andrea Bocelli<\/strong> and the British pop group Take That.<\/p>\n Katy, 39, had a special tie to the king, telling Extra<\/em> on April 24, \u201cI\u2019m an ambassador to one of his foundations for the British Asian trust, which primarily focuses on ending child trafficking, which is a huge issue of our time that people don\u2019t talk enough about, and it just aligned with all my values. \u2026 He asked me to sing and it all aligned.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cTeenage Dream\u201d artist told the crowd during her set, \u201cI am so happy to be here with you people, I love you so much. I\u2019m so happy to celebrate this whole weekend. I got to bring my mum, she is so happy to be here and we get to stay in Windsor Castle \u2013 no big deal.\u201d<\/p>\n Taylor does have ties to the royal family. She performed at a 2013 fundraising gala for Centrepoint, a U.K. homeless charity which Prince William made his first patronage in 2005.<\/p>\n William, 41, recalled how the singer managed to get him on stage to take part in Jon Bon Jovi<\/strong>\u2018s performance of \u201cLivin\u2019 on a Prayer\u201d at the benefit.<\/p>\n \u201cTo this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I\u2019m cringing at what happened next, and I don\u2019t understand why I gave in,\u201d he told Apple Audio in 2021. \u201cBut, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm, and says, \u2018Come with me\u2026\u2019 I got up like a puppy and went, \u2018Yeah, OK, that seems like a great idea.
