Jared Harris<\/strong> thinks the royals have nothing to be upset about when it comes to The Crown<\/em><\/a> \u2014 and believes they might even consider it good press.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s always a question of whether you should be doing this or telling this tale or whether it is in some way disrespectful and my opinion is that I think the royal family would be delighted because it is humanizing them,\u201d the 62-year-old actor \u2014 who played Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s father, King George VI, in the first two seasons of the Netflix drama \u2014 said during a Monday, November 27, appearance on BBC\u2019s Today<\/em> via Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Several royals have admitted to enjoying watching The Crown<\/em> over the years.<\/p>\n

Princess Eugenie<\/strong> confessed to watching \u201ca couple of episodes\u201d in 2017. \u201cIt is filmed beautifully,\u201d Eugenie, now 33, told Hello!<\/em><\/a> at the time. \u201cThe music is wonderful, the story is beautiful. You feel very proud to watch it. I can\u2019t speak for everyone, but that\u2019s how I felt when I watched it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prince Harry<\/strong> and Meghan Markle<\/strong><\/a> have also stated that they watch the Emmy-winning TV show \u2014 but the Duke of Sussex stressed that it is fictionalized.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s fiction. \u2026 But it\u2019s loosely based on the truth,\u201d Harry, now 39, said while on The Late Late Show With James Corden<\/em> in February 2021. \u201cIt gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that. I\u2019m way more comfortable with The Crown<\/em> than I am seeing the stories written about my family, or my wife, or myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not everyone feels that way. Last year, Lady Anne Glenconner<\/strong>, a longtime friend of Queen Elizabeth II, slammed the series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRoyal families have been captivating people around the world for centuries, whether it be real-life kings and queens or dazzling portrayals of them in movies and TV shows. The Crown has perhaps become the most well-known depiction of the British royal family since it premiered on Netflix in 2016, with Claire Foy and Matt Smith [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe trouble is that people, especially in America, believe it completely. It\u2019s so irritating,\u201d Lady Glenconner, 91, said during a November 2022 appearance on BBC Radio 4\u2019s \u201cWomen\u2019s Hour.\u201d \u201cI don\u2019t watch The Crown now because it just makes me so angry. And it\u2019s so unfair on members of the royal family.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to call the Netflix series, which premiered in 2016, a \u201ccomplete fantasy\u201d rather than an accurate biographical drama.<\/p>\n
