Linda Evangelista<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about the cosmetic procedure incident that she said left her \u201cpermanently deformed\u201d and \u201cbrutally disfigured.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow people feel about me still bothers me a little bit, but it used to bother me a lot,\u201d Evangelista, 58, said to The Sunday Times<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Sunday, November 26. \u201cI know now that I didn\u2019t do anything wrong. For the longest time I thought I did.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cI\u2019m not completely rid of it, but I work hard at getting rid of the guilt and the shame. And I\u2019m not letting it ruin my life. I wouldn\u2019t have stayed locked up if I\u2019d known how many people cared.\u201d<\/p>\n

The model revealed via Instagram<\/a> in September 2021 that she underwent the CoolSculpting procedure<\/a> designed to \u201cdecrease\u201d her fat cells. Instead, the cosmetic procedure allegedly \u201cincreased\u201d them and left her \u201cpermanently deformed\u201d even after two \u201cunsuccessful corrective surgeries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Evangelista, who reached supermodel stardom alongside Cindy Crawford<\/strong> and Christy Turlington<\/strong>, also said on Sunday that she doesn\u2019t look in the mirror.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy son will say to me sometimes, \u2018You might want to know that you have a pimple on your chin.\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018What?\u2019 But life is better without mirrors,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Evangelista, who is a two-time breast cancer survivor<\/a>, noted that her greatest goal is to \u201cstay alive.\u201d (She was diagnosed in both December 2018 and July 2020.)<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I hear other people\u2019s stories, I think, \u2018Oh God, I have no right to complain,\u2019\u201d she said to the outlet.<\/p>\n

Evangelista previously revealed in September 2021 that she developed a rare side effect called Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH). She noted that she had been left, \u201cas the media has described, \u2018unrecognizable.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPAH has not only destroyed my livelihood, it has sent me into a cycle of deep depression, profound sadness and the lowest depths of self-loathing,\u201d Evangelista wrote via Instagram at the time. \u201cIn the process, I have become a recluse.\u201d<\/p>\n
