Clark Griswold, Buddy the Elf and Ralphie better set a place at the holiday movie<\/a> table for Ludacris<\/strong> <\/a>because he\u2019s coming down the chimney with a fresh Christmas tale<\/a>, Dashing Through the Snow<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMan, it was great making this movie,\u201d Ludacris tells Us Weekly<\/em> exclusively, \u201cbecause, for me, there\u2019s a lot of deeper themes going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the new Disney+ film, Ludacris, 46, plays Atlanta-based social worker Eddie Garrick, a man who lacks Christmas spirit due to a traumatic childhood experience. While taking his 9-year-old daughter Charlotte (Madison Skye Validum<\/strong>) with him to work, they meet a mysterious man named Nick in a red suit who, through a magical adventure, might help Eddie find his love for the holidays again. (Lil Rel Howery<\/strong>, who appeared in Get Out<\/em>, Judas and the Black Messiah<\/em>, and Good Burger 2<\/em>, portrays Nick.)<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of [Dashing Through the Snow<\/em>] is about healing,\u201d Ludacris tells Us<\/em>, adding that the movie stresses the importance of \u201cgetting therapy and trying to understand and identify your post-traumatic stresses and things that you had as a kid.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film addresses the struggles of \u201ctrying to be the best self you can be in order to be the best for others,\u201d but it still has the makings of a classic holiday story.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut in terms of the Christmas joy and becoming a staple as a Christmas movie, I think it has all the elements, man,\u201d he says. \u201cThe comedic element, the heartfelt elements, it definitely has the Christmas elements. You get to see Santa Claus in a different light, a real different light \u2014 a darker light at that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ludacris tells Us<\/em> that Dashing Through the Snow<\/em> offers a \u201cmodernized\u201d take on the St. Nick mythos, adding, \u201cSanta has an iPad and an iPhone and keys. That\u2019s a different take. It\u2019s a whole different take.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ludacris isn\u2019t afraid of doing something different. While his music career was blowing up in the early 2000s, he took on the role of Tej Parker in 2 Fast 2 Furious<\/em>. Throughout the following decades, he would return to the Fast franchise and appear in movies like Crash, Hustle & Flow, New Year\u2019s Eve<\/em> and John Henry.<\/em><\/p>\n

This artistic versatility mirrors the creativity of Ludacris\u2019s Atlanta peers, Andre 3000<\/strong> and Big Boi<\/strong>, a.k.a. hip-hop duo OutKast. Luda spoke with Us<\/em> after Big Boi inducted Kate Bush<\/strong> into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and days before Andre released his experimental jazz-flute album<\/a>, New Blue Sun<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot many people are just rappers nowadays because it\u2019s the business of music,\u201d he remarks. \u201cBut with that being said, it\u2019s expressing yourself in different ways and being open to that and just not having one channel. I think it\u2019s been embraced and people are catching on, man.\u201d<\/p>\n
