Katharine McPhee<\/strong><\/a> and David Foster<\/strong><\/a> ushered in the holiday season with a festive performance at the 2023 Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade.<\/p>\n

McPhee, 39, and Foster, 74, sang \u201cSanta Claus Is Coming to Town\u201d at the 97th annual event on Thursday, November 23. The couple appeared<\/a> on Hallmark Channel\u2019s Heartwarming Holiday Countdown float, which featured a 3-D Christmas calendar inspired by the network\u2019s Countdown to Christmas tradition and held special surprises behind every date.<\/p>\n

Other performers on the parade\u2019s lineup included Cher<\/strong><\/a>, Jon Batiste<\/strong>, Brandy<\/strong><\/a>, Jessie James Decker<\/strong><\/a> and Ashley Park<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Foster and McPhee \u2014 who tied the knot<\/a> in June 2019 and welcomed son Rennie<\/a> in February 2021 \u2014 released their holiday album, Christmas Songs<\/em>, in 2022. The full version with additional songs came out in October.<\/p>\n

McPhee previously joked that she \u201cguilted\u201d Foster into recording<\/a> the collaboration. \u201cI said something like, \u2018It\u2019s really crazy I\u2019m married to the greatest producer, basically of our lifetime, and I\u2019ve only had you record me on a few songs,\u2019\u201d she recalled to People<\/em><\/a> in October 2022. \u201cThen he said, \u2018OK, well, why don\u2019t we just do a Christmas album?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

What started out as a fun side project for the pair ultimately became a full-scale release. \u201cWe thought we would just put a couple songs out on Spotify, and then we did this seven-song EP situation and our co-manager started sending it around to a couple labels,\u201d McPhee explained. \u201cBefore we knew it, we had a whole Christmas plan of shows and promotion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foster, meanwhile, described the recording process as \u201ceasy because she sings so amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI got to make the tracks and do things the way I wanted to, then I\u2019d have her come in and plug her vocal in,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt was really fun. There were a couple of songs we were talking about that we didn\u2019t know whether she could handle or not, but she handled them like a pro.\u201d<\/p>\n
