Cher<\/strong><\/a> brought down the house when she gave the final performance of the 2023 Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade.<\/p>\n

The pop icon, 77, sang \u201cDJ Play a Christmas Song\u201d during the Thursday, November 23, telecast on NBC. She appeared toward the end of the event before Santa arrived in his sleigh to usher in the beginning of the Christmas season, dressed in a white button-down and black pants. Cher stood on a star-shaped platform and was surrounded by dozens of dancers wearing all-silver.<\/p>\n

Cher landed the gig after announcing in September that she would be dropping her first holiday album titled Christmas<\/em><\/a> the following month. \u201cIt\u2019s not your mother\u2019s Christmas album,\u201d she teased on Good Morning Britain<\/em> at the time.<\/p>\n

Despite her usual hesitancy to collaborate with other artists<\/a> on her projects, Cher invited Stevie Wonder<\/strong><\/a>, Michael Bubl\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>, Cyndi Lauper<\/strong><\/a>, Tyga<\/strong><\/a> and Darlene Love<\/strong><\/a> to be a part of the album. \u201cI\u2019ve never had duets. I\u2019ve never had people on any of my records. This was a last-minute thing,\u201d she noted. \u201cBut they\u2019re special: all of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The legendary singer (born Cherilyn Sarkisian) is more than five decades into her mega-successful career, which has spanned the worlds of music, TV, film and fashion. She is just a Tony Award away from becoming an EGOT winner, with an [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For Cher, the holiday record was new territory that she never thought she would explore. \u201cI had no intention of doing a Christmas album,\u201d she told Billboard<\/em><\/a> in October. \u201cBut [Warner Records] said, \u2018Why don\u2019t you do a Christmas album<\/a>, Cher?\u2019 and I said, \u2018If I can do my version, I\u2019ll do it,\u2019 and they were very pleasant.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of Cher\u2019s stipulations was to exclude some favorite Christmas tunes that have been covered again and again. \u201cEverybody\u2019s gotten \u2018Santa Claus Is Coming to Town\u2019 and \u2018Jingle Bells\u2019 and all that,\u201d she explained. \u201cI just said to them, \u2018There will be Christmas songs and they\u2019ll be appropriate, but I want to do what I feel.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
