Cardi B<\/strong><\/a> hit back at a critic on social media who accused \u201cinfluencers\u201d of pretending to work out in the gym but really using weight loss surgery to shed pounds.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, November 21, a user on X quote-tweeted a post<\/a> that included a video of Cardi, 31, showing off her toned butt in a green workout leggings and a matching sports bra at a gym. \u201cI hate influencers who do this get all the surgery acting like they really be in the gym when really if they gain more weight they will just get surgery again smh,\u201d the user wrote.<\/p>\n Less than an hour later, the \u201cBodak Yellow\u201d rapper responded<\/a> to defend herself, pointing out that she has been \u201cvocal\u201d about her \u201cprocedures\u201d in the past. Cardi then explained why she still works out at the gym instead of getting more surgery.<\/p>\n \u201cThe thing is I don\u2019t gain weight much so I\u2019m trying to gain MUSCLE cuz it\u2019s hard for me to maintain fat,\u201d she wrote. \u201cAlso there\u2019s this thing called visceral fat\u2026It\u2019s fat that grows under the muscle and you can\u2019t lipo it only thing you can do is work it out! THATS WHY YOU SEE POUCHES ON LIPO GIRLS. YOU HAVE TO MAINTAIN IT!\u201d<\/p>\n Cardi, who shares daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus, 5, and son Wave Set Cephus, 2, with husband Offset<\/strong>, admitted to getting liposuction<\/a> in May 2019. She made the revelation during a performance at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, Tennessee, noting that she \u201cshould have canceled\u201d the gig.<\/p>\n \u201cI shouldn\u2019t really be performing because moving too much is gonna f\u2013k up my lipo. But bitch, I\u2019m still gonna get my motherf\u2013king money back, let\u2019s go!\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Days later, she told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> why she felt it was important to disclose that she got liposuction<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to explain to people how hard it is to process. I feel like people look at girls on Instagram and go, \u2018Oh, they got their lipo done and it was so easy,\u201d\u2018 the mom of two shared. \u201cIt is just such a long, hard process, almost like the same process as after you give birth to a baby and you see your body change and snapping it back.\u201d<\/p>\n Cardi previously teased that she was open to getting the procedure in August 2018, one month after the birth of her daughter.<\/p>\n \u201cI still feel like I got a lot of love handles right here,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cIt\u2019s not much but it\u2019s like \u2014 I\u2019m used to having, like, a real tight stomach \u2026 I might just get a little lipo, you know what I\u2019m sayin\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n The rapper has opened up about other cosmetic procedures, including breast augmentations, butt injections<\/a>, fillers and a nose job. Though she decided to stop having work done after past complications, Cardi shared why she\u2019s never shied away from plastic surgery.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople will be assuming that when you do surgery or something, you\u2019re insecure about yourself or you hate yourself.
