Catherine Holstein<\/strong> has been busy. Since winning the CFDA\u2019s<\/a> American Womenswear Designer of the Year last November, the Khaite founder and creative director is opening her first retail store (designed in collaboration with her husband, architect\u00a0Griffin Frazen<\/strong>), where she debuted her Fall\/Winter 2023 collection on Sunday, all while preparing to welcome the couple\u2019s first child. Her latest project? A collaboration with luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t ask for a better partner,\u201d Holstein recently told\u00a0Vanity Fair<\/em>\u00a0of the partnership. \u201cWe have a mutual respect for each other and the conversation started developing into the idea of a collaboration. It was a very natural progression.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

For Khaite, a brand with its own highly coveted line of accessories, like\u00a0the Davis boot<\/a> and uniquely shaped bags like the\u00a0Olivia<\/a> and\u00a0Lotus<\/a>, sunglasses were an instinctive next step. Featuring an exclusively designed corewire \u2013 the part of the eyeglass frame that helps the temples retain shape and connect to the lenses \u2013 inspired by the hardware in Khaite\u2019s bags, the creation of each pair involved a double embedding process with two pieces of metal in between two layers of acetate on the exterior.<\/p>\n
