Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a> called his mom, Donna Kelce<\/strong><\/a>, to comfort her after her widely talked about Today<\/em> appearance, during which she seemed unenthusiastic when speaking about her son\u2019s new relationship with Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cDonna Kelce still berates herself for how she handled a question about Taylor on the Today<\/em> show,\u201d a Monday, November 20, feature published in The Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/a> read about her October 6 appearance. \u201cTrying not to sound too enthusiastic, she came off underwhelmed. Kelce, not wanting his mom to feel bad, immediately phoned her and assured her that she did a super job \u2014 adding that her green eyeglasses looked great,\u201d the story continued.<\/p>\n It seems Donna, 71, has since become more comfortable speaking about Taylor<\/a>, 33, as she apparently \u201cbeamed\u201d while talking to the outlet about her son\u2019s relationship with the pop superstar.<\/p>\n \u201cI can tell you this, he\u2019s happier than I\u2019ve seen him in a long time,\u201d she told The Wall Street Journal<\/em> of Travis, 34, adding, \u201cGod bless him, he shot for the stars!\u201d<\/p>\n Donna told Today on October 6 she didn\u2019t like speaking about her son\u2019s dating life, which led her to remain mum about Taylor at first.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just one of those things where, you know, obviously, everyone saw me,\u201d she added at the time. \u201cI was in the boxes with [Taylor] and it\u2019s just another thing that\u2019s amped up my life.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite the Kansas City Chiefs tight end initially telling reporters he too wanted to \u201ckeep [his] personal relationship personal,\u201d Travis and Taylor\u2019s romance has blossomed before fans\u2019 eyes.<\/p>\n Travis gushed about his girlfriend, who he calls \u201chilarious\u201d and \u201ca genius,\u201d and said getting to know the person behind the music has been \u201cf\u2013king mind-blowing<\/a>\u201d in the November 20 interview.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never been a man of words. Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is \u2026 I\u2019m learning every day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Though the Super Bowl MVP is used to football fans approaching him in his hometown of Kansas City, he admitted the \u201cscrutiny\u201d<\/a> surrounding his relationship with Taylor has been something he\u2019s \u201cnever dealt with.\u201d<\/p>\n Attention, Travis said, Taylor handles with grace, inspiring him to follow her lead.<\/p>\n \u201cThe scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she\u2019s just living, enjoying life,\u201d Travis told The Wall Street Journal<\/em>. \u201cWhen she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.\u201d<\/p>\n After Taylor attended a handful of Chiefs games to support Travis, he was finally able to return the favor on November 11 during his NFL bye week, visiting the Grammy winner in Argentina<\/a> at one of her Eras tour shows in Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n Travis watched the show alongside the singer\u2019s father, Scott Swift, and the pair were seen on video reacting to Taylor changing the lyrics<\/a> to her song \u201cKarma\u201d on stage for her boyfriend.<\/p>\n \u201cKarma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me,\u201d Taylor sang to the audience, before running off stage into Travis\u2019 arms and kissing him<\/a> for the first time publicly.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
