From rebranding its ChatGPT competitor <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/bing-chat-is-now-copilot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bing Chat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to be under the Copilot umbrella, to the highly anticipated <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-looks-to-free-itself-from-gpu-shackles-by-designing-custom-ai-chips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">custom AI chips<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to compete with Nvidia and ways to generate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-launches-a-deepfakes-creator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">text-to-speech avatars<\/span><\/a>,<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0there were a lot of AI-centered reveals at the Wednesday event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We compiled the various announcements from our respective Microsoft and AI experts <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/author\/frederic-lardinois\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frederic Lardinois<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/author\/kyle-wiggers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kyle Wiggers<\/a> all in one spot in case you missed it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>ChatGPT competitor Bing Chat is now Copilot<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_2629782\" style=\"width: 1062px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2629782\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Image Credits:<\/strong> Microsoft<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/bing-chat-is-now-copilot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/bing-chat-is-now-copilot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">renamed Bing Chat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the AI-powered chatbot it launched on Bing earlier this year, to Copilot in Bing. Bing Chat Enterprise has also been rebranded to Copilot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Kyle notes, the change is likely due to the fact that Bing Chat didn\u2019t move the needle much for Bing. Now it seems the company is looking to divorce the tech from the search engine to better compete with ChatGPT and other popular chatbots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copilot is now accessible in Windows in addition to Copilot.Microsoft.com and Bing, shipping in range of Microsoft\u2019s enterprise subscription plans at no additional cost. It will first power Microsoft AI services like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-now-has-a-copilot-for-almost-everything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copilot<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2022\/05\/24\/microsoft-expands-azure-openai-service-with-fine-tuning-features-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azure OpenAI Service<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>New AI tools Copilot Azure, Copilot for Service and Copilot Studio<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft unveiled new AI tools in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/bing-chat-is-now-copilot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copilot<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the company\u2019s brand of generative AI technologies: Copilot for Azure, Copilot for Service, Copilot Studio and Copilot in Dynamics 365 Guides.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-now-has-a-copilot-for-almost-everything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copilot for Azure<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is Microsoft\u2019s answer to the recently announced Duet AI in Google Cloud, taking the form of a chat-driven assistant for cloud customers. Azure\u2019s Copilot is currently available in preview.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-now-has-a-copilot-for-almost-everything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copilot for Service<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a tool for customer service needs, can answer commonly-asked questions from customer service agents by drawing on a company\u2019s websites, knowledge articles, offline databases and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-now-has-a-copilot-for-almost-everything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copilot in Dynamics 365 Guides<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0taps generative AI to summarize information potentially useful to frontline workers and overlays them on the equipment they\u2019re maintaining. Copilot in Dynamics 365 Guides will first launch in private preview with \u201ca limited set of customers and capabilities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-now-has-a-copilot-for-almost-everything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copilot Studio<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can be used to create a custom copilot \u2014 like a chatbot for expense management, for example \u2014 by describing it in natural language. Copilot Studio is now available in public preview for existing Copilot for Microsoft 365 subscribers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Microsoft Teams gets an AI-powered home decorator and voice isolation<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_2627941\" style=\"width: 690px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2627941\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2627941\" src=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Decorate-your-background-in-Teams.gif?w=680\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"383\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2627941\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Image Credits:<\/strong> Microsoft<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft Teams\u2019 new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-teams-gets-an-ai-driven-decorator-voice-isolation-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cdecorate your background\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> feature means you might never have to clean your messy home office again. The video call feature can look at your room and clean up clutter, and add plants or even decorations to your background.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft also announced an AI-driven noise reduction feature for Teams that can reduce repetitive background noise as well as other people\u2019s voices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The voice isolation feature is rolling out now and will be generally available in early 2024, while \u201cdecorate your background\u201d will be available early next year in Teams Premium.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Microsoft To Do, Planner and Project become a singular product<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft is making its project management tools a little less confusing. The company announced it\u2019s consolidating its range of planning tools \u2014 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-combines-microsoft-to-do-planner-and-project-into-a-new-microsoft-planner-in-microsoft-teams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft To Do, Microsoft Planner and Microsoft Project<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 into one new product for a more \u201cunified experience.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will also be a copilot in Planner which will be able to help users plan things faster and suggest new tasks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new Microsoft Planner will first be available in Microsoft Teams in the spring of 2024, with the web version launching later in 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Generative AI copyright protections for more customers<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft announced more customers can be defended and compensated for any \u201cadverse judgements\u201d if they\u2019re <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-extends-generative-ai-copyright-protections-to-more-customers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sued for copyright infringement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a result of outputs from usage of Axure\u2019s OpenAI Service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This policy will not apply to every Azure OpenAI Service customer by default. Subscribers must first implement \u201ctechnical measures\u201d and comply with risk mitigation documentation to be considered for eligibility.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Windows AI Studio makes it easier to run AI locally on Windows<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_2628822\" style=\"width: 1210px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2628822\" class=\"breakout wp-image-2628822 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Windows-AI-Studio-Step-1-e1700173766767.jpg\" alt=\"Windows AI Studio\" width=\"1200\" height=\"643\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2628822\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Image Credits:<\/strong> Microsoft<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In an effort to push generative AI experiences from the cloud to Windows devices, Microsoft announced <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsofts-new-toolkit-makes-running-generative-ai-locally-on-windows-easier\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Windows AI Studio<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The toolkit brings together AI tools and a catalog of generative AI models that developers can fine-tune, customize and deploy for local, offline use in their Windows apps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Windows AI Studio will gain more capable local models including Meta\u2019s text-generating <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/07\/18\/meta-releases-llama-2-a-more-helpful-set-of-text-generating-models\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Llama 2<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Stability AI\u2019s text-to-image model <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/07\/26\/stability-ai-releases-its-latest-image-generating-model-stable-diffusion-xl-1-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stable Diffusion XL<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Azure AI Speech to create text-to-speech avatars<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft announced a tool that can create what is essentially a deepfake. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-launches-a-deepfakes-creator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Azure AI Speech text-to-speech<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> avatar generates a photorealistic avatar of a person and animates that avatar to say things that the person didn\u2019t necessarily say.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Microsoft noted the many obvious ways this tool could be abused, and they are putting limits on it. For now, most Azure subscribers will only be able to access prebuilt avatars at launch.
