This year\u2019s Super Bowl pits the mighty Kansas City Chiefs against odds favorites, the Philadelphia Eagles, as they play at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition to the biggest night in football, it’s also primetime for some of the most iconic name brands during the Fox broadcast as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their prize? A chance to capture the attention and money of more than 100 million viewers expected to tune in the annual event – it’s the Super Bowl of advertising!<\/p>\n

Some advertisers are paying more than $7 million for a 30-second spot<\/a>, and that doesn\u2019t include the cost of making the ad itself.<\/p>\n

According to The Sporting News<\/a>, 57 spots have been purchased, each one hoping to be the one that\u2019s discussed the most at the water cooler on Monday. To make that happen, of course, many brands have dispatched dump trucks full of money to the doorsteps of some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest stars. Sure, we can accuse Ozzy Osbourne<\/strong> of selling out, but how do we know<\/em> he doesn\u2019t really love Workday business services?<\/p>\n

A good number of ads have already debuted on YouTube, so let\u2019s take a look.<\/p>\n

Two spots are leaning heavily on celebrity puns<\/em>. This commercial for Hellmann\u2019s mayonnaise (the Coke to Miracle Whip\u2019s Pepsi) is eager to remind you that Jon Hamm<\/strong> and Brie Larson<\/strong> both have food names. Then Pete Davidson<\/strong> shows up to make a ham and brie panini.<\/p>\n

Honestly, it takes a lot of guts to include the star of Mad Men<\/em> in your ad. One wonders what Don Draper would have thought if this were pitched to him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The spot is corny as hell (gee, why aren\u2019t the members of Korn in that fridge, too?) but it at least moves quickly. If you want to see another pun-forward commercial last an unfunny eternity, here\u2019s Danny McBride<\/strong> shilling for Downy. Because Danny and Downy kinda sound similar.\u00a0<\/p>\n
