Ask Dr. Julie Hanks<\/em> podcast<\/a>, Jill Duggar spoke alongside her husband, Derick Dillard.<\/p>\n\u201cAs we paved our own path, it became very difficult for me,\u201d Jill expressed.<\/p>\n
She explained that it became challenging \u201cbecause I realized I could not please my parents and do what I feel like we\u2019re being called to do.\u201d<\/p>\nJill Duggar breaks down here while recounting her interview with Megyn Kelly. She said that that moment \u201cis whenever I was almost forced to choose.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re going to put me against my husband,\u201d she affirmed, \u201cI\u2019m not gonna to pick you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jill then added: \u201cI\u2019m gonna to pick my husband.\u201d That makes sense. While many people despise Derick, and with good reason, Jill chose her husband (up to a point). Jill was already a married woman with one small child. <\/p>\n

This was a new path \u201cthan the one my parents had kinda laid out for us,\u201d she acknowledged.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd,\u201d Jill pointed out, her parents had \u201cjust assumed that we would follow\u201d what they wanted. He presented it as a \u201cministry opportunity.\u201d <\/p>\n
Simply put, reality TV was a way for Jim Bob to advertise the twisted cult lifestyle as merely quirky <\/em>and alternative<\/em> rather than sinister. Some more gullible viewers may have seen it as somehow desirable for its simplicity.<\/p>\nBut to do that, he had to make it seem like all of his kids were onboard for life. \u201cBut whenever I felt threatened that way,\u201d she reflected, \u201cthat\u2019s when push really came to shove.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jill described: \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018You\u2019re gonna make me decide that I\u2019m going to take this next step, and you\u2019re not gonna like it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\nLook out, Michelle and Jim Bob! But they are, arguably, part of society \u2014 rather than living in a cult that abjures the real world.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s really sad is that Jill would still like to have a good relationship with her parents.<\/p>\n
Despite everything, there\u2019s part of her that loves them. Even though they do not, and could never, deserve it.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
