We carefully curate a large group of the world\u2019s most respected critics, assign scores to their reviews, and apply a weighted average to summarize the range of their opinions. The result is a single number that captures the essence of critical opinion in one Metascore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"hidearticle\"><em>From her 2008 debut studio album<em> The Fame<\/em> up to 2021\u2032s <em>Love For Sale<\/em>, here\u2019s how Lady Gaga\u2019s albums are ranked\u2026<\/em><\/strong><span id=\"more-1969572\"><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"center\"><\/div>\n<h2>10. ARTPOP (2013)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Metascore: 61<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Billboard <\/em>wrote that \u201cCoherently channeling R&amp;B, techno, disco and rock music as a pop artist while discussing sex, drugs, lust, God, fame and creativity, Lady Gaga has offered fans her most sonically and lyrically diverse album to date.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>The Telegraph<\/em> declared \u201cShe doesn\u2019t do anything wildly original with them [musical genres], but she has fun.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>The Observer<\/em> said \u201cIt\u2019s no instant classic, then, but neither is it the calamity that some have foreseen, being a typically mixed Gaga outing with some ludicrous highs, questionable digressions (Jewels \u2018N\u2019 Drugs, in which three rappers add little to the mix; or Donatella, a charmless ode to the equally charmless Versace supremo) and plenty of not-unpleasant filler.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/2eRJUtI7nXrQ5uYQ7tzTo9\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allow=\"encrypted-media\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.justjared.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/headlines\/2020\/09\/lady-gaga-cheek.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<h2>9. Cheek to Cheek (2014)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Metascore: 64<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Entertainment Weekly<\/em> said of her collaborative jazz record with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/tags\/tony-bennett\/\" title=\"Tony Bennett\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Tony Bennett<\/strong><\/a> that \u201cThe track list is, admittedly, a little dull. Luckily, the singing isn\u2019t.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The <em>New York Daily News<\/em> wrote \u201cThe match between Bennett and Gaga winds up quite differently from the one between the master and <strong>k.d. lang<\/strong> in 2002. Those two created a more sober and mature affair. By contrast, the duets with Gaga give Bennett a whole new hold on youth.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>Rolling Stone<\/em> wrote that \u201cShe sometimes blasts away at these songs rather than relaxing into them. Joanne (2016)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Metascore: 67<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Spin<\/em> declared \u201cIt\u2019s understandable that <em>Joanne<\/em> finds Gaga performing authenticity, if only because it\u2019s the strongest way to convey artistic evolution to the masses in 2016. The image here\u2013the illusion, really\u2013is as imperfect as it is meticulously rendered.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>The New York Times<\/em> observed that \u201cWhile <em>Joanne<\/em> is elemental, nothing about it is bare. Born This Way (2011)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Metascore: 71<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Gaga\u2019s <em>Born This Way<\/em>, <em>The Telegraph<\/em> wrote that \u201cGaga goes over the top and keeps on going: exhilarating, exhausting blockbuster entertainment.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>MSN Music<\/em> remarked that \u201cThis isn\u2019t up to <em>The Fame<\/em> or <em>The Fame Monster<\/em>. Dawn of Chromatica (2021)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Metascore: 74<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Clash Music<\/em> said: \u201cThe main takeaway from <em>Dawn Of Chromatica<\/em> however is <strong>Gaga<\/strong>\u2019s curatorial ability, and the even strength of talent on display. Capable of moving from <strong>Ashnikko<\/strong>\u2019s playful digitalism through to the ballroom energy of the <strong>Jimmy Edgar<\/strong> and <strong>Bree Runway<\/strong> take on \u2018Babylon\u2019, it\u2019s a relentlessly entertaining display.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Pitchfork<\/em> noted: \u201cThe most memorable revisions on<em> Dawn of Chromatica<\/em> create new links to other standout moments in the Gaga discography. \u2026 A few other highlights tilt in the other direction, teleporting <strong>Gaga<\/strong> into established worlds of sound with satisfying results.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>AllMusic<\/em> added: \u201cPresented as the daring and liberated sibling to a more traditional predecessor, <em>Dawn of Chromatica<\/em> unlocks an expanded world of potential and reminds her legion of Little Monsters that she still has a finger on the pulse and isn\u2019t afraid to take risks once in a while.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/3OevODyllQCrhudfLLnV3y\" width=\"300\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.justjared.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/headlines\/2020\/09\/lady-gaga-monster.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<h2>3. The Fame Monster (2009)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Metascore: 78<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The LA Times <\/em>wrote \u201cIn her music videos and live shows over the past year, Gaga has worked hard to demonstrate her creative ambition and stylistic range, and that project continues on <em>The Fame Monster<\/em>.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>Rolling Stone <\/em>noted that \u201cshe covers her conceptual bets by rolling out sturdy club-thumpers, and this eight-song EP (included in the reissue and sold separately) is largely on point.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>NME<\/em> remarked \u201cPoker Face,\u2019 pretty much the one song 2009 will be remembered for, are included on the original album, this becomes essential for anyone who even remotely likes pop. A Star Is Born (2018)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Metascore: 78<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Rolling Stone<\/em> said of Gaga\u2019s collaborative soundtrack album with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/tags\/bradley-cooper\/\" title=\"Bradley Cooper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Bradley Cooper<\/strong><\/a> for their film that \u201cThe music Gaga helps write for this stretch in Ally\u2019s career, where she\u2019s still brunette and performing with a man she is falling in love with, is gorgeous\u2013romantic without being trite and powerful.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>NME<\/em> declared that \u201cOverall though, <em>A Star is Born <\/em>is one of the best Hollywood soundtracks of recent years. Far from being Oscar bait, these are songs that could feasibly shine on their own\u2013and ones that feel entirely believable.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><em>Pitchfork<\/em> wrote that \u201cSave for a digital flourish or two on the pop songs that make up much of the film\u2019s back half, there\u2019s very little here that would\u2019ve sounded out of place on blockbuster film soundtracks of decades past.
