The ‘Twilight’ star, 31, and his nurse spouse celebrated their first wedding anniversary on November 11, and they have reflected on how “smooth sailing” married life has been so far.<\/p>\n
Tay told People: \u201cTaylor and I have very different communication styles.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd so when we do get in a \u2026 I don\u2019t even want to say an argument, because we don\u2019t really argue. But when we do get in a conversation or disagreement, whatever, and we\u2019re talking through it, he knows that I go mute and don\u2019t really speak. And Taylor can process his emotions.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cIt is frustrating because it\u2019s like I want to talk about everything right then and there, and get it over with.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I want to know her feelings. I know she\u2019s upset. I\u2019m like, \u2018Just tell me.\u2019 But she just goes blank and she needs to take a step back to take a moment to process and think and realise exactly what she\u2019s feeling. So as soon as we figured out each other\u2019s different communication styles, now it\u2019s a whole lot easier to get through those conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe couple were warned that the first year can be the hardest but they couldn’t have had a more different experience.<\/p>\n
\nTaylor said: \u201cWe\u2019ve been warned by so many people like family, friends, \u2018First year marriage. You know, it\u2019s the hardest.’<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd we were like, \u2018Really? Okay.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTay said: \u201cWe giggle. We\u2019re like, \u2018When\u2019s it coming? We\u2019re just waiting.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTaylor – who previously romanced Taylor Swift, 33, Billie Lourd, 31, and Selena Gomez, also 31 – laughed: \u201cHopefully it\u2019s not like a slow burn or something.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s been pretty smooth sailing so far.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
