Golden Bachelor<\/em><\/a> contestant Joan Vassos<\/strong> had a plan to return to the Bachelor Mansion<\/a> in hopes of finding love with Gerry Turner<\/strong><\/a> following her abrupt self-elimination<\/a> \u2014 but \u201cit wasn\u2019t in the cards.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI got home, and my plan was to give [my daughter] some care \u2014 I needed to get her some mental health care,\u201d Joan, 60, told TheWrap<\/a> in an interview published on Thursday, November 9. \u201cI was in the process of doing that, and I was approached, and they said, \u2018Do you want to come back?\u2019 and I said, \u2018Yeah, I\u2019d love to come back, let me see how I\u2019m doing with my daughter.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Joan and Gerry, 72, went on a one-on-one date during the October 12 Golden Bachelor<\/em> episode. While sparks flew between the two, Joan decided to self-eliminate from the competition after a tear-filled call from her daughter.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy daughter had a really serious case of postpartum depression<\/a>, and she needed me. She needed her mom,\u201d Joan revealed when she was in the hot seat during the Golden Bachelor Women Tell All<\/em> special<\/a> on Thursday. \u201cI didn\u2019t think twice. I knew I had to be there. I heard it in her voice. I could not get on that plane fast enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans watched leading man Gerry\u00a0begin his journey to find love after loss when the show premiered in September 2023. He kicked things off by opening up about his 43-year marriage to his late [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Initially, Joan was going to make her return to the Golden Bachelor<\/em> \u201cmaybe four or five days after I left,\u201d she told The Wrap. \u201cThe journey that I left, it was so abrupt and I felt I had unfinished business\u201d<\/p>\n

But when Joan\u2019s daughter \u201cwasn\u2019t good again,\u201d the plan changed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just hadn\u2019t made it far enough \u2014 I hadn\u2019t gotten her a doctor yet,\u201d she explained. \u201cI had calls in but it just couldn\u2019t unfold quick enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joan shared an update with viewers during Thursday\u2019s Women Tell All<\/em>, revealing that her daughter and granddaughter are both doing \u201cgreat\u201d now.<\/p>\n

Even though she was unable to make it back to the Bachelor Mansion<\/a>, Joan did take one major life lesson away from her short stint on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI left there, for the first time, feeling like I saw a future with somebody,\u201d she told host Jesse Palmer<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cGerry helped make me feel visible. \u2026 Gerry opened my heart, and I held out hope for a little while, honestly. I did think a couple times that maybe I would come around the corner coming home from work, and he\u2019d be sitting on my front porch.\u201d<\/p>\n
