This comes just a few months after the company announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/01\/23\/spotify-cuts-6-of-its-workforce-impacting-600-people\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">significant wave of layoffs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"maylayoffs\">May 2023<\/h2>\n<h3>Taxfix<\/h3>\n<p>Announced on May 30 that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/30\/taxfix-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off 20% of staff\u2014120 employees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Meta<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 24 that it is <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/24\/meta-conducts-yet-another-round-of-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laying off about 6,000 people<\/a>. In total, about 21,000 people have lost their jobs at Meta since November.<\/p>\n<h3>JioMart<\/h3>\n<p>Reliance Retail\u2019s online shopping platform <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/22\/reliance-jiomart-to-cut-11000-jobs-report-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off over 1,000 employees on May 22<\/a>, and plans to cut as many as 9,900 more roles over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<h3>Krebs Stamos Group<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 18 <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/18\/consulting-firm-krebs-stamos-group-lays-off-six-employees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that the consulting firm laid off six people<\/a>. In April, the firm had 18 employees including the founders. On May 18, the site shows only 14 team members.<\/p>\n<h3>TuSimple<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 18 that it is <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/18\/tusimple-to-lay-off-30-of-u-s-workforce-keep-china-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laying off about 30% of employees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the layoff, TuSimple had about 550 employees in the U.S. and post reduction in force the company will have about 220, according to the company.<\/p>\n<h3>Nuro<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 12 that it <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/12\/autonomous-delivery-startup-nuro-to-lay-off-30-of-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">will lay off 30%, or about 340 employees<\/a> across the company.<\/p>\n<h3>LinkedIn<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 8 that it is <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/08\/linkedin-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cutting 716 jobs, or about 3.6% of total employees<\/a>, and will phase out its local jobs app in China. Despite reducing some roles, LinkedIn also plans to open about 250 new jobs on May 15.<\/p>\n<h3>Rapid<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 5 that Rapid (previously known as RapidAPI) has <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/05\/rapidapi-headcount-down-82-from-fresh-layoffs-less-than-two-weeks-after-cutting-50-of-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off another 70 employees<\/a> less than <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/25\/rapidapi-valued-at-1-billion-last-year-cuts-staff-by-50\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two weeks after letting go of 50%<\/a> of its staff. Just 42 people remain at the company, down from 230 in April, dropping a total of 82% in headcount.<\/p>\n<h3>Meesho<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 4 that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/04\/india-meesho-cuts-251-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cut 15% of its workforce, or 251 roles<\/a>. This comes after its first round of layoffs, which eliminated 150 roles about a year ago.<\/p>\n<h3>Shopify<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 4 that it is <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/04\/shopify-to-reduce-workforce-by-20-sells-logistics-business-to-flexport-for-13-equity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laying off 20% of its workforce<\/a>, impacting <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/04\/how-shopify-bungled-its-latest-layoffs-and-made-employees-feel-like-npcs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more than 2,000 people<\/a>. It\u2019s also selling its logistics business to Flexport for roughly 13% in stock.<\/p>\n<h3>Bishop Fox<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 3 that it <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/03\/bishop-fox-lays-off-employees-days-after-throwing-conference-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off around 50 employees \u2014 or 13% of its workforce<\/a> \u2014 on May 2.<\/p>\n<h3>Neato Robotics<\/h3>\n<p>Announced May 1 that Vorwerk-owned <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/01\/neato-robotics-is-being-shut-down-after-18-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neato Robotics is shutting down, with nearly 100 employees impacted<\/a> by the move.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"aprillayoffs\">April 2023<\/h2>\n<h3>Clubhouse<\/h3>\n<p>Announced April 27 that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/27\/clubhouse-needs-to-fix-things-and-today-it-cut-more-than-half-of-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off more than 50% of staff<\/a>. A spokesperson for Clubhouse declined to comment on the number of people impacted by today\u2019s workforce reduction or the number of employees who remain at the company. Last October, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2022\/10\/27\/clubhouses-paul-davison-on-twitter-the-impact-of-hype-and-what-happened\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Davison told TechCrunch<\/a> that Clubhouse had close to 100 employees.<\/p>\n<h3>Dropbox<\/h3>\n<p>Announced April 27 that it <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/27\/dropbox-lays-off-500-employees-16-of-staff-ceo-says-due-to-slowing-growth-and-the-era-of-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">would be laying off 500 employees or 16% of staff<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Amazon<\/h3>\n<p>Announced on April 26 that it is <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/26\/amazon-closing-halo-health-division-lays-off-staff-while-offering-hardware-refunds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shutting down its Halo Health division, effective July 31<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.geekwire.com\/2023\/amazon-begins-its-latest-round-of-layoffs-read-memos-from-execs-sent-to-employees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> among other divisions<\/a>. The layoffs are part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/20\/amazon-confirms-another-round-of-layoffs-impacting-9000-people-in-aws-twitch-and-other-units\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">9,000 employees announced in March.<\/a> Including the 18,000-person layoffs <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/01\/05\/amazon-to-cut-18000-jobs-as-tech-layoffs-continue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced in January<\/a>, this brings the total to 27,000 job cuts or 8% of Amazon\u2019s corporate workforce this year.<\/p>\n<h3>Rapid<\/h3>\n<p>Announced on April 25, Rapid, previously known as RapidAPI, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/25\/rapidapi-valued-at-1-billion-last-year-cuts-staff-by-50\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lays off 50% of its staff<\/a>. The layoffs are believed to have impacted 115 people.<\/p>\n<h3>Anthemis Group<\/h3>\n<p>Announced on April 25 that it will <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/25\/fintech-focused-vc-firm-anthemis-group-lays-off-28-of-staff-as-part-of-restructuring\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lay off 16 people from its staff, or 28% of employees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Lyft<\/h3>\n<p>Announced on April 21 that <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/21\/lyft-to-make-significant-cuts-across-ride-hailing-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">employees will learn whether they have a job or not<\/a> via an email that will be sent out April 27.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/27\/lyft-layoffs-to-affect-26-of-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lyft layoffs to affect 26% of workforce<\/a>, or about 1,072 people as promised on April 27.<\/p>\n<h3>Meta<\/h3>\n<p>Announced April 18th that it is expected to <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/18\/another-round-of-mass-layoffs-expected-at-meta-this-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lay off 10,000 jobs in the coming months<\/a>. This is on top of the <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2022\/11\/09\/meta-confirms-11000-layoffs-amounting-to-13-of-its-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">11,000 jobs that were cut in November<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Redfin<\/h3>\n<p>Announced April 13th that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/04\/13\/redfin-is-laying-off-more-workers-as-housing-downturn-persists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off 201 employees, about 4% of its workforce<\/a>. This is the third time the Seattle-based real estate company has reduced its workforce since June.<\/p>\n<h3>Apple<\/h3>\n<p>Bloomberg reported on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-04-03\/apple-to-make-small-number-of-job-cuts-in-some-corporate-retail-teams#xj4y7vzkg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April 3 that Apple is laying off a small number of roles<\/a> on its corporate retail teams.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"marchlayoffs\">March 2023<\/h2>\n<h3>Netflix<\/h3>\n<p>Announced on March 31, Netflix <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-03-31\/netflix-restructures-film-group-as-it-scales-back-movie-output\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirms<\/a> a \u201chandful of layoffs,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/31\/netflix-restructures-its-film-units-aiming-to-make-fewer-but-better-original-movies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which includes two longtime executives<\/a>. The exact number of layoffs is unclear. Netflix is scheduled to report Q1 2023 results on April 18.<\/p>\n<h3>Roku<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 30 that it is <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/30\/roku-announces-a-second-set-of-layoffs-impacting-200-employees-or-6-of-its-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letting go of about 200 employees, or 6% of its workforce<\/a>. The company had <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2022\/11\/17\/roku-lays-off-200-us-employees-citing-economic-conditions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off 200 U.S. employees back in November<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Unacademy<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 30 that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/29\/unacademy-layoffs-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off more than 350 roles, or 12% of its workforce<\/a> \u2014 just over four months after cutting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2022\/11\/07\/indian-edtech-unacademy-cuts-10-of-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">about 350 roles<\/a>\u00a0in November.<\/p>\n<h3>Shift Technologies<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 29 that it <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/29\/online-used-car-marketplace-shift-cuts-workforce-30-following-carlotz-merger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off 30% of its workforce<\/a> in Q1 2023.<\/p>\n<h3>Lucid<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 28 that it is <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/28\/lucid-to-lay-off-1300-employees-in-restructuring\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laying off 1,300 employees, or 18% of its workforce<\/a>, to be completed by the end of Q2 2023.<\/p>\n<h3>GitHub<\/h3>\n<p>Announced on March 28 that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/27\/github-slashes-engineering-team-in-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eliminated over 100 jobs in the South Asian market<\/a>, laying off virtually its entire engineering team in India. A GitHub spokesperson told TechCrunch that the layoff is part of the streamlining effort the firm had <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/02\/09\/github-lays-off-10-and-goes-fully-remote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disclosed in February<\/a> to cut roughly 10% of its workforce by end of Q1 2023.<\/p>\n<h3>Disney<\/h3>\n<p>On March 27 in an internal memo to employees, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/27\/disney-layoffs-2023-ceo-bob-iger-memo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disney revealed there will be three rounds of layoffs<\/a>, the first beginning this week. The job cuts will impact approximately 7,000 employees, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/02\/08\/disney-q1-2023-earnings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced in February<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Salesforce<\/h3>\n<p id=\"speakable-summary\">On March 24, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-03-24\/salesforce-considers-more-job-cuts-amid-profit-push-coo-says?leadSource=uverify+wall&amp;srnd=technology-vp#xj4y7vzkg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-mrf-recirculation-id=\"In-Article Links_0\">Bloomberg reported<\/a>\u00a0that <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/27\/more-layoff-misery-could-be-coming-to-salesforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more layoffs could be on the way at Salesforce<\/a>, quoting chief operating officer Brian Millham, who indicated that the company could be adding to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/10\/the-long-goodbye-at-salesforce-continues-with-more-layoffs-off-reported-today\/\" data-mrf-recirculation-id=\"In-Article Links_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ongoing job cutting<\/a>\u00a0at the CRM leader and in tech in general. If the layoffs happen, it would come on top of<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/01\/04\/salesforce-to-cut-workforce-by-10-after-hiring-too-many-people-during-the-pandemic\/\" data-mrf-recirculation-id=\"In-Article Links_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0the 10% cut<\/a>\u00a0in January.<\/p>\n<h3>Accenture<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 23 that it <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/23\/accenture-to-cut-19000-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plans to cut 19,000 jobs, or 2.5% of its workforce<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Indeed<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 22 that it will <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/22\/job-listing-platform-indeed-lays-off-2200-employees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lay off 2,200 employees, or 15% of its staff<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Roofstock<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 22 that it has laid off<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/22\/roofstock-valued-at-1-9b-last-year-cuts-27-of-staff-in-second-round-of-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 27% of its staff, approximately 100 employees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Twitch<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 20 that it will <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/20\/twitch-says-it-will-lay-off-400-employees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lay off 400 employees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Amazon<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 20 <a href=\"#amazonjan\">another round<\/a> of substantial layoffs, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/20\/amazon-confirms-another-round-of-layoffs-impacting-9000-people-in-aws-twitch-and-other-units\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this time 9,000 people are set to lose their jobs<\/a>. TechCrunch is hearing that around 10% of today\u2019s total came from <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/20\/aws-takes-a-hit-in-latest-round-of-amazon-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AWS<\/a>. As part of the new round of layoffs, Amazon is <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/21\/amazon-kills-dpreview-the-best-camera-review-site-on-the-web\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shutting down DPReview<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Livespace<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 20 that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latestly.com\/technology\/livspace-layoffs-home-interiors-and-renovation-platform-cuts-100-employees-as-part-of-cost-cutting-measures-4968163.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off at least 100 employees, about 2% of the company\u2019s workforce<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Course Hero<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 16 that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/16\/course-hero-edtech-unicorn-last-valued-at-3-6-billion-conducts-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cut 15% of staff, or 42 people<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Klaviyo<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 15 that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/15\/klaviyo-conducts-company-wide-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laid off 140 of its staff across all teams<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Microsoft<\/h3>\n<p>As a part of its <a href=\"#microsoft\">recent announcement<\/a> to layoff 10,000 people,<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/13\/microsoft-lays-off-an-ethical-ai-team-as-it-doubles-down-on-openai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Microsoft laid off an entire team dedicated to guiding AI innovation<\/a> that leads to ethical, responsible and sustainable outcomes. On March 27, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/business\/microsoft-seattle-area-layoffs-top-2700-with-tech-giants-latest-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft laid off 559 workers<\/a> from its Bellevue and Redmond operations.<\/p>\n<h3>Meta<\/h3>\n<p>CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed rumors March 14 that the company will be <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/14\/meta-to-cut-another-10000-jobs-zuckerberg-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cutting 10,000 people from its workforce and around 5,000 open roles<\/a> that it had yet to fill.<\/p>\n<h3>Y Combinator<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 13 that it will <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/13\/y-combinator-cuts-nearly-20-of-staff-scales-back-growth-stage-investments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">impact 20% of staff, or 17 team members<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Salesforce\u2026continued<\/h3>\n<p>Salesforce first announced that it was laying off 10% of the workforce in <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/01\/04\/salesforce-to-cut-workforce-by-10-after-hiring-too-many-people-during-the-pandemic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January<\/a>, but some employees didn\u2019t know until <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/02\/02\/some-salesforce-employees-just-found-out-theyre-part-of-the-10-layoff-announced-last-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">February<\/a>. The week of March 10, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/10\/the-long-goodbye-at-salesforce-continues-with-more-layoffs-off-reported-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more employees are just learning they have been laid off<\/a>. Salesforce confirmed that these layoffs were part of the 10%.<\/p>\n<h3>Atlassian<\/h3>\n<p>Announced on March 6, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/06\/atlassian-cuts-5-of-its-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlassian is laying off about 500 employees, or 5% of its total workforce<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>SiriusXM<\/h3>\n<p>Announced on March 6, the <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/06\/siriusxm-announces-layoffs-of-475-people-or-8-of-its-total-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">company laid off 475 employees, or 8% of its total workforce<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Alerzo<\/h3>\n<p>The Nigerian B2B e-commerce platform had a headcount of more than 2,000 before a first round of layoffs in September 2022. Alerzo has l<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/06\/nigerian-b2b-e-commerce-startup-alerzo-cuts-15-of-full-time-staff-in-second-round-of-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aid off 15% of its full-time workforce, the company confirmed on March 6<\/a>, leaving about 800 employees at the startup.<\/p>\n<h3>Cerebral<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 1, the company is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobihealthnews.com\/news\/cerebral-announces-third-round-layoffs-less-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letting go 15% of it\u2019s workforce \u2014 roughly 285 employees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Waymo<\/h3>\n<p>Announced March 1, Alphabet\u2019s Waymo issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/01\/waymo-cuts-200-employees-after-second-round-of-layoffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second round of layoffs this year<\/a>.
