\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Emma Thompson<\/strong><\/a> is calling out Ian McKellen<\/strong><\/a>, following his comments about having intimacy coordinators on film sets.<\/p>\n Conversations about the new movie professionals have been in the news quite a lot<\/a> since the Me Too movement began to take shape over the past few years. <\/p>\n Over the past year, many have argued<\/a> whether they are really needed on set, and Emma <\/strong>has been one of the most vocal in support in having the coordinators on movie and television sets. <\/p>\n Just recently, she argued against Ian<\/strong>\u2018s own comments of if they were absolutely needed.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Ian <\/strong>appeared on BBC Radio 4 recently, where he shared his opinion on the matter.<\/p>\n \u201cI can imagine there are situations when you have to be careful and people find it difficult to be intimate, and therefore a coordinator is just the thing,\u201d he noted, via The Daily Mail<\/a>. \u201cBut why can\u2019t it be the director who does that? Why has it got to be somebody who\u2019s been trained in how to do it?\u201d<\/p>\n After hearing his comments, Emma <\/strong>responded as she was featured to Andrew Marr<\/strong> on LBC. <\/p>\n \u201cI think if you\u2019re a young woman on a set, which is largely peopled by men, the crew will be 90 per cent men and the women won\u2019t be on the set with you, because generally speaking we do not have parity on any level on film sets, it\u2019s all men,\u201d she shared. <\/p>\n Emma <\/strong>went on, \u201cThat\u2019s a very uncomfortable position for a young woman who\u2019s starting in the industry, but it is absolutely essential that there is someone there to protect them. Absolutely essential. You cannot imagine what people went through in some of those big series when they first started the streaming series.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey were just told when they walked on set, now this is what we\u2019ve got to do\u2026 And that\u2019s absolutely outrageous,\u201d she added. \u201cSo, it\u2019s all very well, if you\u2019re a bloke it\u2019s a different kind of thing.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
