Post Malone<\/strong><\/a> showed his love for country music while performing with Morgan Wallen<\/strong><\/a> and HARDY<\/strong><\/a> at the 2023 CMA Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The trio took the stage at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, November 8, to sing a medley of classics in honor of the late country legend Joe Diffie. After an introduction from Joe\u2019s eldest son, Parker Diffie,<\/strong> Wallen, 30, and HARDY, 33, got the crowd on their feet with \u201cJohn Deere Green.\u201d They were later joined by Malone, 28, for a cover of \u201cPickup Man,\u201d which ended in a standing ovation.\n<\/p>\n

While Malone made his CMA debut on Wednesday, Wallen performed during the awards show twice, surprising the audience by bringing Eric Church<\/strong><\/a> out for a duet earlier in the night. Wallen was also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year. HARDY, for his part, was up for Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year.<\/p>\n

Malone has been vocal about his appreciation for country music over the years, singing covers of beloved songs such as Hank Williams Jr.<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cThere\u2019s a Tear in My Beer\u201d and Brad Paisley<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s \u201cI\u2019m Gonna Miss Her.\u201d He also performed a duet of \u201cA Thousand Miles\u201d with Dwight Yoakam<\/strong> at SiriusXM studios in 2018.<\/p>\n

Prior to his CMA Awards performance, Malone teased that he would be open to recording a country album. \u201cTo be honest, there\u2019s nothing stopping me from taking a camera or setting up in my studio in Utah and just recording a country album and just f\u2014king putting it on YouTube,\u201d he said on The Howard Stern Show<\/em><\/a> in June 2022. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing stopping me. Maybe I\u2019ll face some repercussions later from the label and s\u2014t. But there\u2019s nothing stopping me<\/a> from doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans speculated about a potential country project for Malone after he was spotted at what appeared to be a recording studio with Wallen and Ernest<\/strong> in a Sunday, November 5, Instagram post<\/a>. (Ernest, 31, is a close friend and collaborator of Wallen and HARDY.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCountry music stars are celebrating big wins at the 2023 CMA Awards. This year\u2019s ceremony, which takes place on Wednesday, November 8, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, is being hosted by NFL legend Peyton Manning and country music\u2019s own Luke Bryan for the second year in a row. As for how Malone\u2019s performance with Wallen and HARDY came to be, HARDY, 33, hinted that his longtime support of Malone may have factored into it. \u201cI\u2019ve manifested this for years,\u201d he told Audacy\u2019s Katie Neal<\/strong><\/a> earlier this month. \u201cSlight flex here, but I started following him when he had, like, 300,000 Instagram followers.\u201d<\/p>\n

HARDY noted that his love for Malone goes back to his 2016 debut single. \u201cI was on the \u2018White Iverson\u2019 train. The first thing that he ever put out,\u201d he shared. \u201cI was like, \u2018This is dope,\u2019 and I\u2019ve been with him ever since.\u201d<\/p>\n
