(Photo Credit: Pascal Le Segretain\/Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nMia Khalifa Reenters the Conversation<\/h2>\n Just a few days ago, Mia Khalifa took to Twitter to share a cluster of incendiary messages that Amy Schumer sent.<\/p>\n
The messages were not to her. They were, instead, directed at Asia Jackson. The 29-year-old actress is of both Black and Indigenous Filipino descent, and had commented on on Schumer\u2019s horrific takes.<\/p>\n
As you might recall, Jackson tweeted: \u201cIt\u2019s so crazy to me how Bella & Gigi had to tiptoe around their statements and then Amy Schumer is like \u2018Gazans are rapists\u2019 and will still have a career.\u201d<\/p>\nAfter actress Asia Jackson tweeted about how people like Bella Hadid had to speak gently about Palestinian rights during the ongoing ethnic cleansing in October 2023, she made reference to Amy Schumer\u2019s apparent characterization of Gazans as rapists. This resulted in a very messy DM. (Image Credit: Twitter)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nMessy<\/h2>\n Schumer first messaged Jackson after that post. It appears that this is also when she followed her \u2014 expressly so that she could send her some truly out-of-pocket, confrontational DMs.<\/p>\n
\u201cDid something I post about my people being massacred upset you?\u201d Schumer demanded. Many of us have received unexpected DMs from famous people. Very few receive this flavor, however.<\/p>\n

(There have been very real spikes in antisemitism! And while white nationalists have been attempting to insert themselves into discussions of Israel\u2019s brutal bombing of Gaza, conflating support for Gazan victims with antisemitism is dishonest. Especially considering the volume of Jewish protesters in the US and in Israel)<\/p>\n
\u201cYou are not educated about the history of the Jewish people and of the conflict,\u201d Schumer alleged. \u201cThanks for expressing what you were upset about. She told her that they feel \u201cfrightened for their children and for their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
That makes sense, given how rising fascism across the globe historically uses antisemitism as a weapon. And antisemitism and Islamophobia are both spiking amidst the conflict.<\/p>\n
But \u2026 Jackson\u2019s objections to the bombing of homes and hospital, the massacre of more than 5,000 children in Gaza, don\u2019t seem super relevant to that.<\/p>\nAmy Schumer used a video of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. discussing Israel. (Image Credit: Twitter)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nLeave Asia Jackson alone<\/h2>\n You can probably guess how Jackson, who just had a toxic stranger show up in her DMs to accuse her of not knowing what she\u2019s talking about, reacted.<\/p>\n
\u201cVery curious to hear how you know that I\u2019m not educated about the conflict? How do you know that?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n

Naturally, it took off, and so did Schumer\u2019s horrific Instagram posts, some of which seemed to portray Gazans as \u201crapists.\u201d<\/p>\n
Schumer later accused her of sharing the DMs for clout rather than because Schumer was not <\/em>having a normal one in her DMs.<\/p>\nAnd then Mia Khalifa shared it. Khalifa lost business ties when she spoke out (again, not all of her comments were in good taste) early in the conflict. Of course she feels invested in the ongoing conversation and <\/em>in the human rights atrocities.<\/p>\nAmy Schumer posted a catch-all reply to criticisms of her abhorrent posts in October of 2023. It\u2019s a very sad situation when people feel afraid to even speak out against a genocidal bombing campaign against people living in an open air prison.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, attacking and even killing children would never be the answer. <\/p>\n
Palestinians need freedom; Hamas doesn\u2019t need cheerleaders. Though, at this point, many suspect that Israel\u2019s bombs have killed more of Hamas\u2019 hostages than Hamas ever would have.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
