Ncuti Gatwa<\/strong><\/a> is set to be the newest star of Doctor Who<\/em>, and fans are counting down until they get to meet his version of the Doctor.<\/p>\n

The Sex Education<\/em><\/a> actor was cast in 2022 prior to previous star Jodie Whittaker<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s last episode. Russell T. Davies<\/strong>, who led the 2005 relaunch of Who<\/em> and departed alongside David Tennant<\/strong><\/a> in 2010, will return as showrunner for both the 60th anniversary specials and season 14.<\/p>\n

\u201cNcuti dazzled us, seized hold of the Doctor and owned those TARDIS keys in seconds,\u201d Davies said in a May 2022 statement when Gatwa was announced<\/a> in the role. \u201cIt\u2019s an honour to work with him, and a hoot, I can\u2019t wait to get started.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Will \u2018Doctor Who\u2019 Season 14 Air?<\/h3>\n

After the three 60th anniversary specials air (read more about those here<\/a>) on BBC and Disney+, Gatwa\u2019s episodes are slated to begin over the \u201cfestive period.\u201d Disney+ confirmed that the Doctor Who<\/em> holiday special, titled \u201cThe Church on Ruby Road,\u201d will air on December 25. The last four winter specials aired on New Year\u2019s Day, making this the first Christmas Day premiere since 2017.<\/p>\n

How Does Ncuti Gatwa Feel About Being the New Doctor?<\/h3>\n

\u201cThere aren\u2019t quite the words to describe how I\u2019m feeling,\u201d he said in a press release. \u201cA mix of deeply honoured, beyond excited and of course a little bit scared. This role and show means so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each one of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled that unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care. I will endeavour my utmost to do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who Is the 15th Doctor\u2019s New Companion?<\/h3>\n

BBC and Disney+, the U.S. streaming home for the new season, announced in November 2022 that Millie Gibson<\/strong> will portray Gatwa\u2019s sidekick, Ruby Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhilst still being in total disbelief, I am beyond honoured to be cast as the Doctor\u2019s companion,\u201d Gibson said in a November 2022 statement. \u201cIt is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me. What Does Ncuti Gatwa Look Like as The Doctor?<\/h3>\n

In December 2022, Disney+ and BBC revealed the first photo of Gatwa and Gibson in their typical character costumes. The new\u00a0star wore a bright orange shirt with a dark orange plaid jacket and trousers. He topped off the look with some silver rings and Gallifreyan nail art. Gibson, meanwhile, wore a denim jacket with blue shorts and tights underneath.<\/p>\n

Who Is Jonathan Groff Playing?<\/h3>\n

The Spring Awakening<\/em> actor was officially announced in a \u201ckey role\u201d in May 2023. The first photos of his yet-to-be-revealed character show him with the Doctor and Millie in regency-era clothing.<\/p>\n

Bonnie Langford<\/strong> first joined Doctor Who<\/em> in 1986 as Melanie Bush, the companion to the Sixth and Seventh Doctors, played by Colin Baker<\/strong> and Sylvester McCoy<\/strong>, respectively. She made a cameo in 2022 during Whittaker\u2019s final episode as the 13th Doctor.<\/span><\/p>\n
