Less than a week after Friends<\/em> star Matthew Perry was found dead<\/a> at his Los Angeles home, he was laid to rest in a private ceremony just steps from the studio where he spent his most iconic years.\u00a0<\/p>\n Perry (who was 54 at the time of his death) was remembered Friday at a service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, multiple outlets report. His former Friends<\/em> castmates, including Jennifer Aniston<\/strong>, Lisa Kudrow<\/strong>, Courteney Cox<\/strong>, Matt LeBlanc<\/strong>, and David Schwimmer<\/strong>, were in attendance, E! reports<\/a>, as were his father, actor John Bennett Perry<\/strong>, and his stepfather, Dateline<\/em> host Keith Morrison<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n The family members at the ceremony included Perry\u2019s mother, Suzanne<\/strong>, and brother, Willy Morrison<\/strong>, as well as sisters Emily<\/strong> and Madeline<\/strong>, Page Six reports<\/a>. The outlet also notes that the cemetery, located near the Hollywood Hills, \u201cis opposite the Warner Bros studios, where Perry filmed [Friends] for ten years.\u201d It’s also the final resting place of stars<\/a> including Lucille Ball, John Ritter, and Carrie Fisher.<\/p>\n The service ran from 3-5 p.m. Friday, People reports<\/a>, and was not open to the public.\u00a0<\/p>\n That same day, the National Philanthropic Trust announced a foundation in Perry\u2019s name that will support people with substance use disorder, CNN reports<\/a>. Called the Matthew Perry Foundation<\/a>, the organization is \u201cin the spirit of Matthew Perry\u2019s enduring commitment to helping others struggling with the disease of addiction,\u201d it said via press release.\u00a0<\/p>\n The effort is \u201cguided by his own words and experiences, and driven by his passion for making a difference in as many lives as possible,\u201d the group said. Perry, whose 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing<\/em> offered a stark discussion<\/a> of his own substance use disorder, said he wrote the book<\/a> to help others living with the same illness.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve had a lot of ups and downs in my life and a lot of wonderful accolades,\u201d Perry told the Hollywood Reporter<\/a> in 2015. \u201cBut the best thing about me is that if an alcoholic comes up to me and says, \u2018Will you help me stop drinking?\u2019 I will say, \u2018Yes.
