W<\/em> Take predictions and<\/span> urban legends with skepticism: Luko is not France\u2019s next unicorn, and Paul McCartney is not dead<\/a>. Now rumor has it that insurtech M&A is off the table. As for me, I\u2019ll be listening to the Beatles. \u2014 Anna<\/a><\/p>\n Over the summer, we learned that French insurtech Luko had avoided what seemed like imminent insolvency<\/a> by agreeing to be acquired<\/a> by British insurer Admiral Group. It wasn\u2019t the journey its investors had envisioned when they put a reported \u20ac72 million<\/a> into the startup, but it wasn\u2019t the end of the road.<\/p>\n However, rumors emerged a few days ago that Admiral was giving up on buying Luko.<\/p>\n We won\u2019t know Luko\u2019s fate for sure until at least November 7, its next judicial deadline. But according to L\u2019Argus de l\u2019Assurance, the insurance-focused media outlet that got the scoop<\/a>, the restructuring of the startup\u2019s \u20ac45 million debt became a blocking point, with creditors BNP Paribas and Triple Point Ventures both hoping to get their money back before one another.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
