Senator Tommy Tuberville<\/strong> does not have a lot of fans these days\u2014on either side of the aisle\u2014thanks to his ridiculous blockade on military nominations and promotions, which he continues to hold up because he\u2019s mad about reproductive rights<\/a>. On Wednesday, for instance, members of his own party called<\/a> his now monthslong stunt\u00a0\u201ca national security suicide mission\u201d that is doing \u201cgreat damage to our military.\u201d And after comments he made on Thursday, he\u2019s unlikely to convince more people to come over to his side!\u00a0<\/p>\n Speaking to reporters about the apparent<\/a> heart attack suffered on Sunday by Marine Corps commandant General Eric Smith<\/strong>\u2014which Army veteran and Senate Armed Services Committee chair Jack Reed<\/strong> said<\/a> he believed was in part due to being overworked as a result of Tuberville\u2019s blockade\u2014the senator from Alabama scoffed at the idea that he had anything to do with it. \u201cThe Marine Corps commandant probably got 2,000 people working for him,\u201d Tuberville said. \u201cJack Reed blamed me for his heart attack. Come on, give me a break. This guy is going to work 18-20 hours a day, no matter what. That\u2019s what we do. In fact, Tuberville has no military experience whatsoever. When he said, \u201cI did that for years,\u201d he was presumably referring to his job as a college football coach, which he held before becoming a senator in 2021. (He has nevertheless also said<\/a> things like \u201cthere is nobody more military than me.\u201d) As Insider notes<\/a>, while Tuberville was coaching football, Smith\u2014who Reed says<\/a> was doing two jobs at once at the time of his heart attack\u2014was earning a Purple Heart.\u00a0<\/p>\n Since being elected in 2020, Tubverville has made a name for himself not just as a guy who has left hundreds of military jobs in limbo, but as an idiot and apologist for white nationalists. Shortly after his victory over Doug Jones,<\/strong> he claimed<\/a> that the three branches of government were \u201cthe House, the Senate, and the executive\u201d and that World War II was a fight against socialism.
