Magazine<\/em> at the time. \u201cI knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n When asked if GAC had plans to include LGBTQIA+ movies<\/a> in their programming, Cameron Bure replied, \u201cI think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n CEO Bill Abbott<\/strong><\/a>, meanwhile, told the outlet that the network is \u201caware of the trends\u201d in 2022 but there\u2019s \u201cno whiteboard that says, \u2018Yes, this\u2019 or \u2018No, we\u2019ll never go here.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n After receiving backlash for the controversial remarks<\/a>, the former View<\/em> cohost defended herself in a statement later that month, claiming that she has \u201cgreat love and affection for all people.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend<\/a> and hurt anyone,\u201d she shared. \u201cIt saddens me that the media is often seeking to divide us, even around a subject as comforting and merry as Christmas movies. But, given the toxic climate in our culture right now, I shouldn\u2019t be surprised. We need Christmas more than ever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Despite her efforts, Cameron Bure\u2019s controversy continued to make headlines when Neal Bledsoe<\/strong> <\/a>announced he was stepping away from GAC in support of the LGBTQIA+ community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI cannot continue with business as usual. I cannot take comfort from, nor will I give refuge to, those who excuse exclusion and promote division in any way, shape, or form<\/a>. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and these are mine: the recent comments made by leadership at Great American Family are hurtful, wrong, and reflect an ideology that prioritizes judgment over love,\u201d the actor, 41, told\u00a0Variety\u00a0in a November 2022 statement. \u201cI was raised as a Christian, and believe in the essential message of love and forgiveness.
