Austen Kroll<\/strong> <\/a>wanted to be there for ex Olivia Flowers<\/strong><\/a> as much as he could after her brother Conner died in January<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very tough for me because I felt like \u2026 I should be the one who\u2019s there for her, but I\u2019ve obviously chosen not to be that person,\u201d Austen, 36, explained on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, November 2.<\/p>\n

Olivia, 31 eventually called Austen after her brother\u2019s death, and he rushed to be by her side. Though the twosome\u2019s relationship has been rocky<\/a> after their September 2022 split, Austen felt a \u201cstronger bond\u201d<\/a> with his former flame in the wake of her loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was kind of like a moment that I\u2019ll never forget,\u201d the Southern Charm star told WWHL<\/em> host Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cI ran down to see her, and we just had this rom-com movie moment of just like meeting in the driveway and collapsing into each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Austen felt like he could relate to Olivia in that moment because of his own experience with losing a sibling. Austen\u2019s older sister, Kyle, died during a family trip to Chimney Rock State Park when he was 7 years old.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just a moment you can\u2019t really describe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Olivia and her family confirmed Conner\u2019s death at age 32 in February, calling him \u201ca remarkable young man\u201d in a statement to Us Weekly at the time. \u201cHis values were seeded in his faith and in his family,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cWe know his absence will be felt by many for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans watched as Olivia and the Southern Charm<\/em><\/a> cast grieved Connor when the episodes surrounding his death aired on Bravo last month.<\/p>\n

Olivia, for her part, confirmed her brother\u2019s cause of death<\/a> on Wednesday, November 1, revealing that Conner died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl. She explained that his dependance prescription medicine was closely associated with his longtime battle with Lyme disease. (He was diagnosed at 15 years old.)<\/p>\n

\u201cHe started depending, at a very young age, on this prescription medicine to feel normal,\u201d Olivia told People on Wednesday. \u201cAnd we as a family started to see this toll it took on his body.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bravo star explained that Conner \u201chated talking about his illness\u201d and that \u201cpeople, even in his close circle, didn\u2019t know about his Lyme.\u201d<\/p>\n
