HBO\u2019s Euphoria<\/em><\/a> won\u2019t return to screens until 2025.<\/p>\n

HBO CEO Casey Bloys<\/strong> revealed the network\u2019s upcoming slate of programming during a press event on Thursday, November 2. Per Variety<\/em><\/a>, the third season of the teen drama appeared in a teaser video that read \u201ccoming in 2025,\u201d along with other highly anticipated series such as The Last of Us<\/em> season 2 and The White Lotus<\/em><\/a> season 3. People<\/em><\/a>, meanwhile, confirmed that production on season 3 of Euphoria<\/em> is set to begin in 2024.<\/p>\n

The delay in production is due largely to the WGA strike and ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, though creator Sam Levinson<\/strong>\u2019s 2023 series The Idol<\/strong> and lead actress Zendaya<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s busy schedule were also contributing factors.<\/p>\n

Bloys noted that while the strikes may cause production costs to increase, they won\u2019t necessarily result in shows getting cut altogether.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been through strikes before, you know, they increase the cost,\u201d he said, per The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t see a scenario where I go, \u2018Well, I was going to make another tentpole show, but now I\u2019m not going to because we have to pay X amount more.\u2019 I don\u2019t think it works like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Further details about the third season of Euphoria<\/em><\/a> remain unknown. In an August interview with Elle<\/em><\/a>, Levinson said he views season 3 as a \u201cfilm noir\u201d that will explore \u201cwhat it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world\u201d through the eyes of Rue (Zendaya). Fans, meanwhile, are clamoring for a resolution to the explosive season 2 feud between Maddy (Alexa Demie<\/strong><\/a>) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n

In August 2022, Zendaya told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> that she hopes to see the characters get a little older in season 3. \u201cI think it\u2019ll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school,\u201d she said. \u201cI want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look. But also with all the characters, in the sense where they\u2019re trying to figure out what to do with their lives when high school is over and what kind of people they want to be.\u201d<\/p>\n
