SZA<\/strong> <\/a>had her suspicions about Drake<\/strong> <\/a>regarding \u201cSlime You Out<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though the collab between SZA, 33, and Drake, 37, went to No. 1 on the Billboard<\/em> Hot 100, the \u201cKill Bill\u201d singer was initially apprehensive about the song, particularly Drake\u2019s decision to use the first take of her vocals. \u201cIf you accept my first draft, I won\u2019t trust you,\u201d SZA told WSJ. Magazine<\/em><\/a> when discussing collaborations and feedback in an interview published on Monday, October 30. Yet, that\u2019s exactly what Drake did when it came to \u201cSlime You Out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just handed in the first draft to Drake, and he\u2019s putting it on his album,\u201d she told the publication. \u201cI\u2019m scared because I handed in second vocals and he didn\u2019t use that. And now I\u2019m like, \u2018Are you trying to sabotage me?\u2019 I know that\u2019s not true. I literally know that\u2019s not true, but that\u2019s how bad I feel about my first draft. When things come from an effortless space, I almost can\u2019t enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Drake\u2019s judgment proved sound. \u201cSlime You Out\u201d debuted atop the Hot 100, giving SZA her second No. 1 hit (after \u201cKill Bill,\u201d which topped the Billboard<\/em> chart in April). The track gave Drake his 12th No. 1 song. He earned his 13th<\/a> when For All the Dogs<\/em>, the album from which \u201cSlime You Out\u201d came, dropped on October 6. The song \u201cFirst Person Shooter,\u201d featuring J. Cole<\/strong>, also went to No. 1.<\/p>\n

SZA then unfollowed Drake on Instagram, later clarifying in a tweet that they actually dated in 2009. \u201cIn this case, a year of poetic rap license mattered. LOL. I think he jus [sic] innocently rhymed 08 [with] wait,\u201d she wrote. \u201cAnybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm. It\u2019s all love, all peace.\u201d She also stated that she was 18 and he was 21, in case anyone thought their brief fling was inappropriate. \u201cCompletely innocent.
