The no-holds-barred volume even attracted Oscar nominee Michelle Williams<\/strong> as its audiobook narrator<\/a>, it\u2019s that hot a property. And now it appears the pop icon has even more secrets to reveal, as Spears announced via Instagram<\/a> that a second volume is coming. But even that detail is now a subject of intense scrutiny and controversy, as sources close to the artist say the announcement was premature\u2014or simply false.<\/p>\n \u201cHumor is the cure to everything !!! Volume 2 will be released next year \u2026 get ready !!!,\u201d Deadline reports<\/a> that the since-deleted post read, with Spears claiming her current tome is \u201cthe highest-selling celebrity memoir in history.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Data on the book\u2019s sales will not be available until next week, Spears’s publisher Simon & Schuster says, but her assertion isn\u2019t outside the realm of possibility: it\u2019s currently listed as the top seller on Amazon\u2019s complete list of available books<\/a>. The extraordinary details on her conservatorship battle<\/a>, texted breakup message from Timberlake<\/a>, Colin Farrell<\/strong> fling<\/a>, and various infidelities<\/a> are clearly of high interest to the masses.\u00a0<\/p>\n Is that attention enough to surpass the sales of the current record-holding memoir, Prince Harry\u2019s<\/strong> memoir, Spare?<\/em> The royal’s book sold over<\/a> 1.43 million copies across all formats on its Jan. 10 release day in the U.S., Canada, and Britain, placing it at the top of the memoir sales game. It’s still unknown if the \u201cToxic\u201d singer managed to topple it, but early sales word was enough that Spears apparently felt invigorated enough to tackle a second effort.\u00a0<\/p>\n However, that announcement post is now gone from Spears\u2019s account, and an unnamed source \u201cclose to Spears\u201d told Variety that<\/a> \u201cthere is no Vol. 2 in the works.\u201d It\u2019s unclear where the truth lies, but as Spears wrote on Oct. 20<\/a>, most of The Woman In Me<\/em> \u201cis from 20 years ago \u2026 I have moved on, and it\u2019s a beautiful clean slate from here !!!\u201d Vanity Fair has reached out to a Spears spokesperson for clarification, but did not receive a response by publication time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
