The \u2018Friends\u2019 actor died in his hot tub aged 54 from an apparent drowning on Saturday (28.10.23) night and a 17-year-old who lived next to his $6 million home in Los Angeles\u2019 Pacific Palisades said they were traumatised when they witnessed emergency workers pack into the actor\u2019s backyard, which is visible over his neighbours\u2019 fences.<\/p>\n
Matthew\u2019s teen neighbour told The US Sun: \u201cI was actually home when the ambulance showed up and looked outside, I was just about to head to my friend\u2019s house. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey were outside my neighbour\u2019s door. I didn\u2019t think much of it at the time until police started arriving and everything. They didn\u2019t hammer the door, they kept silent. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was very disturbing, and very sad after all those years\u2026 from what he\u2019s gone through and his addictions and whatever. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI saw everything \u2013 I feel bad for my younger siblings. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI was very sad. At the same time I did kind of expect it in some sense, but I didn\u2019t expect it to be so soon. He\u2019d not lived there long. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI was very heartbroken to see what happened. I encountered him once, he was very friendly, friendlier than I thought.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nHe added about how he liked Matthew as he was down-to-earth: \u201cVery nice genuine guy. I\u2019ve always looked up to Matthew and he\u2019s probably one of my favourite actors of all time. He made the funniest jokes on the show. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI just hope his friends and family can come together at this time.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nMatthew downsized to the home in Pacific Palisades by the beach after selling his multi-million-dollar penthouse, and neighbours say he had spent months remodelling the swimming pool and backyard. <\/p>\n
\nOne said about how the actor was desperate to relax in the finished product: \u201cThe work was loud and going on for weeks. I think he was upset at his contractor it was taking so long. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe noise only stopped about a week ago, and to think he has barely enjoyed the pool. Now he\u2019s gone. It\u2019s incredible sad.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nPerry had a regular sober coach who would spend time with him, along with other friends in recovery, but is said to have spent most of his days alone with his assistant. <\/p>\n
\nThe actor was last seen out at a restaurant called The Apple Pan in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n
\nHe appeared downcast, despite being out with friends. <\/p>\n
\nMatthew\u2019s final post on Instagram showed him enjoying a dip in the jacuzzi where he died, with the caption saying: \u201cOh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I\u2019m Mattman.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
