The Woman In Me<\/em> is flying off of the shelves.<\/p>\nBritney had decades of ground to cover. Enough to fill an entire memoir, even.<\/p>\n
At one point, she recalls what led to a memorably disastrous performance in 2007. Right before she went on, she had an unwanted run-in with her ex, Justin Timberlake.<\/p>\n<\/noscript>The Woman In Me is the title of Britney Spears\u2019 October 2023 memoir. Her lows during that time might have just been a rough patch or a series of public embarrassments.<\/p>\n
Instead, they set the stage for her awful father to rob her of her basic human rights until late 2021.<\/p>\n
One of those less-than-proud public moments came at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. \u201cI was having a panic attack,\u201d she writes. \u201cI hadn\u2019t rehearsed enough.\u201d<\/p>\n
Britney continues: \u201cI hated the way I looked. Britney and Kevin Federline were no longer together. Their divorce was, of course, big news, even though only one of them was legitimately famous.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Britney\u2019s decision to shave her head and free herself from her team\u2019s constant obsession with her hair was still fresh on people\u2019s minds. At the time, very few understood why she\u2019d taken that step. \u201cThere was a problem with my costume and with my hair extensions,\u201d she recalls in her memoir.<\/p>\n

She adds: \u201cBut everyone was acting like my not having six-pack abs was offensive.\u201d If you remember 2007, then you know exactly how vile people could be about the human body.<\/p>\n

\u201cI could see myself on video throughout the auditorium while I performed,\u201d she recalls. \u201cIt was like looking at myself in a fun-house mirror.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not sure that I\u2019ve ever voluntarily listened to one of his songs, so \u2026 that\u2019s a choice.<\/p>\n
\u201cJustin glided down the runway,\u201d Britney writes. \u201cHe was flirting with girls in the audience, including one who turned around and arched her back, shaking her breasts as he sang to her.\u201d<\/p>\n
That was not a good time for her. And the unhinged public reactions to her every fumble made things so much worse.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
