Another day, another convert: Toyota and Lexus electric vehicles will adopt Tesla\u2019s chargers starting in 2025, Toyota said<\/a> this week.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The top automaker by global sales, Toyota is the latest to back the North American Charging Standard (NACS), following Hyundai, Kia<\/a>, Honda<\/a>, Nissan<\/a>, Mercedes<\/a>, GM and Ford<\/a>, among others. In just about five months, Tesla has virtually sidelined the Combined Charging System (CCS), the standard backed by the Biden administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n The switch should make it easier for EV buyers to access Tesla\u2019s charging network<\/a>, but it won\u2019t happen overnight. The aforementioned automakers say they\u2019ll start introducing EVs with NACS support in 2025, with Mercedes and GM saying they\u2019ll drop adapters in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n It also happens that Toyota\u2019s North American EV sales (including hybrids) are way up lately \u2014 by 20% so far this year, the company said<\/a> in early October.<\/p>\n When it comes to NACS, VW and Stellantis are the two big holdouts left. VW has reportedly been in talks<\/a> with Tesla about the standard since the summer. And last we heard, Stellantis said it\u2019s looking into it<\/a>. Given the recent momentum toward Tesla\u2019s standard, it seems like it\u2019s only a matter of time.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
