Tristan Thompson<\/strong><\/a> honored his late mom, Andrea Thompson, in an emotional tribute \u2014 reflecting on his mistakes and the man he hopes to become.<\/p>\n \u201cDearest mommy in heaven, It has been one month since you\u2019ve been gone. I\u2019m in disbelief. I\u2019m in the deepest part of sorrow & grief,\u201d the NBA star, 31, began in the heart-wrenching post, which he shared via Instagram<\/a> on Sunday, February 5. \u201cMy soul is empty as I come to terms that my biggest supporter\/superhero is gone. I cannot thank you enough for always being a woman of faith, being one of God\u2019s warriors, fighting back with whatever the world threw our way. You constantly protected us through prayer. My hero you fought all the battles you needed to and it was time for you to go home.\u201d<\/p>\n Tristan, who was the oldest of four \u2014 Andrea was also the mother of sons Dishawn, Daniel and Amari \u2014 thanked his late mom for \u201cpicking me as [her] son,\u201d recalling how she \u201cdedicated [her] life to [her] boys & the church.\u201d He called her his \u201crole model, best friend & the strongest woman I know.\u201d<\/p>\n In his lengthy letter, the former Chicago Bulls player also apologized to Andrea for the mistakes he made in his life. (Though Tristan did not specify, he has frequently made headlines for his repeated infidelity<\/a>, including fathering son Theo<\/a>, 14 months, with Maralee Nichols<\/strong> <\/a>when he was still in a relationship with Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian<\/strong><\/a>, with whom he shares daughter True, 4, and a baby boy, 7 months.
