Britney Spears<\/strong><\/a> and Christina Aguilera<\/strong><\/a> met as cast members on the set of The All-New Mickey Mouse Club<\/em> in the early \u201890s. Though they initially had a friendship, the singers were often pitted against each other as they became pop icons in the early 2000s, which led to a feud. Were Britney and Christina able to bury the hatchet as the years went by?<\/p>\n The pop stars were considered chart rivals as they entered the music scene \u2014 Christina with \u201cReflection\u201d in 1998 and Britney with \u201c\u2026Baby One More Time\u201d in 1999. However, their personal feud didn\u2019t begin until 2003 when Britney, Christina and Madonna<\/strong><\/a> performed at the VMAs. Both Britney and Christina kissed Madonna on stage, but Britney\u2019s kiss received more attention<\/a> as the cameras cut to the reaction of her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI definitely saw the newspaper the next day. It was like, \u2018Oh, well, I guess I got left out of that one,\u2019\u201d Christina recalled in a 2018 interview<\/a> with Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n The feud got heated when, later in 2003, Christina told Blender<\/em> that Britney seemed like a \u201clost little girl\u201d during their VMAs rehearsals. In response, Britney told the same publication months later that she \u201ccouldn\u2019t believe\u201d Christina said that and claimed the \u201cGenie in a Bottle\u201d singer accused her of not \u201cbeing real\u201d with her when they ran into each other at a club.<\/p>\n In 2004, Christina told Us Weekly<\/em> that Britney was \u201cnot trailer trash, but she sure acts that way.\u201d<\/p>\n Britney and Christina\u2019s feud cooled off in 2005 when a blog post on the \u201cToxic\u201d singer\u2019s website claimed she would have \u201cloved\u201d to be \u201cclose with Christina again.\u201d The post also revealed that Britney had written a letter to Christina letting her know \u201chow happy and beautiful\u201d she looked.<\/p>\n Christina later apologized for her earlier comments about Britney in 2008, telling The Daily Mail<\/em>, \u201cWhen we both started releasing records, it was a funny time for me. It must have seemed as if we were competing with each other, but, in reality, Britney is someone that I used to hold hands with. We were silly little girls together on the Mickey Mouse Club. What a journey it has been for both of us!\u201d<\/p>\n Though the singers never seemed to return to the same friendship they had as kids, Christina continued to support Britney in the following years. The former The Voice<\/em> judge welcomed Britney to the reality TV competition world when she became a judge on The X Factor<\/em> in 2012.<\/p>\n Additionally, she voiced support for Britney as the \u201cGimme More\u201d singer\u2019s 13-year conservatorship came to an end in 2021. Britney called out Christina on social media for not speaking up sooner, but Christina later doubled down on her support and said she\u2019d \u201clove\u201d to talk to her again.<\/p>\n \u201cI would always be open to that,\u201d she said on The Enrique Santos Show<\/em> in January 2022. \u201cIt\u2019s a subject that I definitely want to be careful of because I never want to speak out of turn about somebody that I have so much respect and admiration for. But, I\u2019m so happy [for her].\u201d<\/p>\n However, Christina unfollowed Britney on Instagram in September that year after the \u201cCriminal\u201d hitmaker compared their weights, writing that she \u201cwould have looked extremely small\u201d if she had Christina\u2019s dancers back in the day. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live,<\/em><\/a> the \u201cDirrty\u201d singer said she didn\u2019t know if she would be mentioned in the book.<\/p>\n \u201cAm I hoping?
