Britney Spears<\/strong><\/a> made the jump to the big screen in the 2022 \u200bcomedy drama Crossroads<\/em>, but the filming experience negatively impacted her mental health. In her memoir, The Woman in Me<\/em>, which will be released on October 24, the pop princess \u200bopened up about the surprising difficulties that came with filming, writing that the experience \u201cwasn\u2019t easy.\u201d<\/p>\n In an excerpt from the book<\/a>, shared with People<\/em> \u200bon October 17, Britney revealed that her approach to Method acting \u2013 a process that involved heavy dedication to the role \u2013 wasn\u2019t good for her mind.<\/p>\n \u201cI think I started Method acting \u2014 only I didn\u2019t know how to break out of my character,\u201d the \u201cCircus\u201d singer explained. \u201cI really became this other person. Some people do Method acting, but they\u2019re usually aware of the fact that they\u2019re doing it. But I didn\u2019t have any separation at all.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cI ended up walking differently, carrying myself differently, talking differently. I was someone else for months while I filmed Crossroads<\/em>. Still to this day, I bet the girls I shot that movie with think, She\u2019s a little\u2026quirky. If they thought that, they were right.\u201d<\/p>\n When filming was over, Britney wrote that she was \u201crelieved,\u201d adding, \u201cI hope I never get close to that occupational hazard again. Living that way, being half yourself and half a fictional character, is messed up. After a while you don\u2019t know what\u2019s real anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n The singer\u2019s memoir will be published nearly two years after she was released from her conservatorship, which was put in place 13 years prior when facing apparent mental health struggles amid paparazzi abuse.<\/p>\n When a judge terminated the conservatorship in November 2021, the pop sensation shared a video on Twitter<\/a> of her fans celebrating outside the courthouse. \u201cGood God I love my fans so much it\u2019s crazy,\u201d she wrote in the caption, adding, \u201cI think I\u2019m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever.\u201d<\/p>\n Recently, Britney has sparked concern over bizarre Instagram videos, such as a September clip of her dancing with knives<\/a> (which she later confirmed were fake) and a February clip in which she talked about dresses and instructed viewers to \u201cnever be a rollercoaster.\u201d<\/p>\n
