Britney Spears<\/a> is sharing some happy, if controversial, childhood memories in her upcoming book.<\/span><\/p>\n The singer’s highly anticipated memoir, <\/span>The Woman in Me<\/em><\/a>, is set for release on Oct. 24, and in a new excerpt released by <\/span>People<\/em><\/a>, Britney recalls fun times she had drinking alcohol with her mother, <\/span>Lynne Spears<\/a>, when she was in junior high.<\/span><\/p>\n “For fun, starting when I was in eighth grade, my mom and I would make the two-hour drive from Kentwood to Biloxi, Mississippi, and while we were there, we would drink daiquiris,” she shares. “We called our cocktails ‘toddies.'”<\/span><\/p>\n This was after Britney’s time on <\/span>The Mickey Mouse Club<\/span><\/em>, but before her breakout 1998 single, “…Baby One More Time” made her a international pop star at just 16.<\/span><\/p>\n “I loved that I was able to drink with my mom every now and then,” she continues in the book. “The way we drank was nothing like how my father did it. When he drank, he grew more depressed and shut down. We became happier, more alive and adventurous.”<\/span><\/p>\n Britney has had a fraught relationship with her mother and her father, <\/span>Jamie Spears<\/a>, in recent years, due in large part to the <\/span>14-year conservatorship<\/a> that gave Jamie control over her life and finances.<\/span><\/p>\n The conservatorship ended in November 2021, and earlier this year, Britney and her mother <\/span>reunited for the first time in years<\/a> at her Los Angeles home. Following the meeting,\u00a0<\/span>ET learned exclusively<\/a> that the singer was open to repairing her relationship with her mother, but not her father.<\/span><\/p>\n Britney took to Instagram to share how excited she was about the reconciliation, writing, “My sweet mama showed up at my door step yesterday after 3 years \u2026 it\u2019s been such a long time. With family there\u2019s always things that need to be worked out \u2026 but time heals all wounds !!!”<\/span><\/p>\n “And after being able to communicate what I\u2019ve held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!!I love \ud83d\udc95 you so much !!!” she continued.\u00a0“Psss\u2026 I\u2019m so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let\u2019s go shopping afterwards !!!”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In July, Britney shared a first look at her memoir’s stunning cover shot.
