The 66-year-old \u2018Love Actually\u2019 and \u2018Notting Hill\u2019 maker\u2019s secret wedding was only revealed as Emma, 61, let the news slip at the Cheltenham Literature Festival in Gloucestershire on Saturday (14.10.23) while she was interviewing actor Richard E Grant<\/a>, 66. <\/p>\n

Richard was also pictured at the event with a gold ring on his wedding finger, with which he kept fiddling according to guests. <\/p>\n

One onlooker told The Sun: \u201cEmma confessed she had finally got hitched while interviewing Richard E Grant<\/a>. She said they\u2019d been married for four weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

They added it was clear she wasn\u2019t meant to have said anything, as she apparently put her finger to her lips and made a \u201cfunny noise which made everyone laugh\u201d after mentioning she and Richard were married. <\/p>\n

\nThe source said: \u201cIt\u2019s not surprising Emma wanted to talk about it though. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cThey\u2019ve been together for over 30 years so it was about time they got married.\u201d <\/p>\n

\nShe was said to have tried to change the subject but it was \u201cthe talk of the festival\u201d. <\/p>\n

\nEmma has previously twice proposed to Richard twice \u2013 but neither attempt was successful as he refused the first time around and slept through the second. <\/p>\n

\nRichard also revealed at the festival he would never include \u201cfat\u201d jokes in his films again and regretted they were not more diverse. <\/p>\n

\nHe made the admissions while being quizzed on stage by his daughter Scarlett, 28, about criticisms he has received over the years that the casts of his rom-coms have been almost exclusively white. <\/p>\n

\nScarlett raised the lack of diversity in his 1999 film \u2018Notting Hill\u2019, despite it being set in one of London\u2019s most multicultural areas. <\/p>\n

\nRichard said: \u201cI wish I\u2019d been ahead of the curve. I think because I came from a very un-diverse school and bunch of university friends, I think that I hung on to the feeling that I wouldn\u2019t know how to write those parts. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cI think I was just stupid and wrong about that. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cI felt as though me, my casting director, my producers just didn\u2019t look outwards.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
