It\u2019s not every day that\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0gets to make history, but that could be in the cards when the\u00a02023 Grammys<\/a>, where she leads all nominations with nine, premiere. Bey already broke records last fall, when her\u00a0recognition for\u00a0Renaissance<\/em><\/a> officially made her the most-nominated artist of all time and tied with her husband,\u00a0Jay-Z,<\/strong> thanks to a massive 88 nods each. Following just behind the Carters are\u00a0Kendrick Lamar<\/strong>\u00a0with eight nominations, and\u00a0Adele<\/strong>\u00a0and Brandi Carlile with seven nods apiece.\u00a0<\/p>\n Fresh off his\u00a0Daily Show<\/em>\u00a0departure<\/a>,\u00a0Trevor Noah<\/strong>\u00a0is hosting for the third year in a row with a Grammys that\u2019s introducing five new categories. They include songwriter of the year, non-classical; Best Alternative Music Performance; Best Americana Performance; best score soundtrack for video games and other interactive media; and best spoken word poetry album. (Davis will achieve EGOT status if she wins best audio book, narration, and storytelling recording for her memoir,\u00a0Finding Me,<\/em> after Emmy, Oscar, and Tony victories.)\u00a0<\/p>\n To celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, artists including Missy Elliott,<\/strong> Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash, Queen Latifah, Lil Wayne, RUN-DMC,<\/strong> and more will unite for a performance introduced by previous Grammys host LL Cool J<\/strong> and produced by Questlove.<\/strong><\/p>\n There will also be a tribute to three major musicians who died in 2022\u2014country icon Loretta Lynn, Fleetwood Mac\u2019s Christine McVie, and Migos member Takeoff.\u00a0Kacey Musgraves<\/strong>\u00a0is set to honor Lynn with a performance of \u201cCoal Miner\u2019s Daughter;\u201d\u00a0Sheryl Crow,\u00a0Mick Fleetwood,<\/strong> and\u00a0Bonnie Raitt<\/strong>\u00a0will perform \u201cSongbird\u201d for McVie; and\u00a0Quavo<\/strong>\u00a0is singing \u201cWithout You\u201d featuring worship music group Maverick City Music for his nephew, Takeoff.\u00a0<\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear whether or not Beyonc\u00e9 will perform\u2014or even attend\u2014the ceremony. But if she were to pick up at least four awards, she\u2019d beat the record held by late conductor Georg Solti for most Grammy wins of all time with 31. \u201cI can think of few artists who are more deserving of holding that title and that position,\u201d Noah told\u00a0THR.<\/em> \u201cAnd without disrespecting any of the previous holders of that title in any way, it is safe to say that Beyonc\u00e9 has truly done more than many to shape not just music, but pop culture, the perception of Black women, Black people in general, connecting the diaspora in the way she creates her music, defining dance moves. I mean, she\u2019s left an indelible impression,\u201d he said.
