This Is Us<\/em> <\/a>star Chrissy Metz<\/strong><\/a> and ex-boyfriend Bradley Collins<\/strong> <\/a>may no longer be romantically involved, but they\u2019re still part of each other\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s the thing \u2014 we\u2019re still good friends. I love him,\u201d Metz, 43, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Wednesday, October 11, while promoting her Grammy-eligible children\u2019s album, Prayed for This Day<\/em>, which was released in February.<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cI think once you love somebody, you always love somebody, that doesn\u2019t stop. \u2026 He\u2019s such a good person and such a good human.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exes announced their split<\/a> via joint Instagram statement on Friday, October 6. \u201cAfter three and a half years together, we\u2019ve decided to end our romantic relationship amicably,\u201d the statement began. \u201cWhile we continue to love each other very much, we believe this is the best path for us both.\u201d<\/p>\n

Metz told Us<\/em> that it was important to her that she and Collins, 43, were honest about their breakup.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were transparent when we talked about meeting online, and people were sort of invested in that story. And so for me \u2026 how I walk through the world is honesty, transparency and vulnerability. And I can\u2019t stop that now,\u201d she said. \u201cWe get to decide what we want to say and what we want to share, but I think if we started sharing our information in the beginning<\/a>, I think it\u2019s also important to share the capacity in which our relationship has evolved, too.\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n

Metz cowrote Prayed for This Day<\/em> with Collins and also shares cowriting credits on some songs with Phil Barton<\/strong>, who also produced the record, and Liz Rose<\/strong>, who is known for her work with Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>. The album is a companion piece to her and Collins\u2019 bestselling children\u2019s book, When I Talk to God, I Talk About You<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Metz and Collins\u2019 artistic collaborations did not come to an end<\/a> when they called it quits. \u201cWe\u2019re writing our second book together,\u201d the actress told Us<\/em> of her former partner. \u201cWe talk all the time, [we\u2019re] constantly in contact and see each other all the time. And Mabel, my dog, is obsessed with him. \u2026 So, it was never a question of, \u2018Are we going to be in each other\u2019s lives?\u2019 [It was], \u2018In what way?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the possibility of finding love<\/a> again with someone new, Metz is completely open to the idea.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love love,\u201d she said. \u201cI literally watch strangers\u2019 weddings online and I have all my life. Whether I\u2019m in a relationship or not, I just love it. And I think it\u2019s ultimately why we\u2019re here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Metz told Us<\/em> that love \u2014 and specifically unconditional love \u2014 is the theme of one of her favorite songs on Prayed for This Day<\/em>: \u201cNo Matter What.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think ultimately even as adults, all we want is to be loved no matter what, no matter the choices we make. \u2026 We want to be unconditionally loved by our caretakers, our parents [and] our family. So, that [song] in particular always gets me a little emotional when I listen to it,\u201d she shared. \u201cBecause I think ultimately, that\u2019s all we want, full stop, is to be loved.\u201d<\/p>\n
