A bombshell report in Variety<\/a><\/em> today details apparent attempts by star Jason Momoa<\/a><\/strong> to get Amber Heard<\/a><\/strong> fired from the DC sequel.<\/p>\n

According to the report, on the same day that the trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom<\/strong><\/em> dropped, several Redditers paid to obtain documents from the Johnny Depp<\/a><\/strong>-Heard defamation trial and then published them online.<\/p>\n

Among those notes are descriptions, apparently scribbled on a legal pad by Heard\u2019s therapist, of Momoa appearing drunk on set, dressed as Depp, as the actor tried to get Heard fired.<\/p>\n

The report goes on to say that Heard was, in fact, almost fired as Mera after the release of 2018\u2019s Aquaman<\/em>, but not because of the public drama with Depp. According to Variety<\/em>, it was due to a lack of chemistry with Momoa, similar to testimony that Heard\u2019s agent gave during the defamation trial.<\/p>\n

Heard was not fired, but that\u2019s reportedly because of Elon Musk<\/a><\/strong>. The Variety<\/em> report alleges that Heard\u2019s former boyfriend had one of his lawyers send a \u201cscorched-earth letter to Warner Bros. threatening to burn the house down,\u201d causing WB to relent and bring back Heard for The Lost Kingdom<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A DC spokesperson pushed back against the Momoa allegations in Variety<\/em>\u2019s report, saying, \u201cJason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.\u201d Another source, meanwhile, claimed that Momoa wasn\u2019t dressing as Depp but rather that he \u201chas always dressed in that bohemian style.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, the notes from Heard\u2019s therapist in the documents say, \u201cJason said he wanted me fired. Jason drunk \u2014 late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too.\u201d<\/p>\n

The notes also say director James Wan<\/strong> ostracized her on set because of the legal battle with Depp, writing, \u201cHe raised his voice at me \u2014 \u2018I can\u2019t even post about Aquaman\u2019 \u2014 made it like it was my fault \u2013 I said \u2018I\u2019m sorry.\u2019 Nobody could take selfies with me on set given blackout.\u201d<\/p>\n

A DC spokesperson, however, told Variety<\/em>, \u201cJames is known for treating members of his cast and crew with the utmost respect and for fostering a positive, collaborative environment on set \u2014 the Aquaman<\/em> films were no exception.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom<\/em> had already been under plenty of scrutiny, with other reports over the summer revealing that it underwent three rounds of reshoots amid confusion over Batman\u2019s place in the film, who at one point was expected to have a small role. While reshoots aren\u2019t uncommon for superhero movies, they can be pricey.<\/p>\n

According to today\u2019s Variety<\/em> report, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom<\/em> cost $215 million to produce, and there\u2019s certainly hope it can follow the billion-dollar success of its predecessor when it hits theaters on Dec. 20, 2023.<\/p>\n
