It\u2019s been three years since Reba McEntire<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s mother passed away \u2014 and the \u201cQueen of Country\u201d remembers how her mom\u2019s death nearly led to the end of her iconic music career.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, I didn\u2019t want to [sing]. I told my little sister Susie when we were working at the house, I said, \u2018I don\u2019t know if I want to sing anymore.\u2019 She said, \u2018Why?\u2019 I said, \u2018Because I always sang for Mama,\u2019\u201d McEntire, 68, said during a Tuesday, October 10, appearance on the Today<\/em> <\/a>show.<\/p>\n

Jacqueline McEntire died on March 14, 2020. She was 93.<\/p>\n

\u201cMama was the one that inspired us kids, taught us kids how to sing, took us to our singing gigs and was our biggest cheerleader,\u201d The Voice<\/em><\/a> coach recalled. Reba remembered her mother telling her to become a recording artist so she could vicariously live through her career.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tShe\u2019s a survivor! Reba McEntire proved she is more than just a country superstar when she led her own TV show \u2014 appropriately called Reba. The sitcom ran for six seasons from October 2001 to February 2007. McEntire starred as a single mother raising her three children \u2014 played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Scarlett Pomers [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShe said, \u2018Reba, I will be living my dreams through you. So golly, why wouldn\u2019t you want to go sing?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The 3-time Grammy winner<\/a> will release her 33rd album, Not That Fancy,<\/em> on Friday, October 13. The project includes a song inspired by her mother titled, \u201cSeven Minutes in Heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n

The album is named after Reba\u2019s new collection of recipes, memoirs, photos and lifestyle tips: Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating, and Dusting Off Your Boots<\/em>, which hit shelves on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The country legend has been dating actor Rex Linn<\/strong> since 2020<\/a>. They met in 1991 and reconnected following the death of her mother. During her appearance on Today<\/em>, Reba shared that Linn was the key to her coping with her mom\u2019s passing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDecades in the making! Reba McEntire and Rex Linn first crossed paths 30 years before they started dating. The \u201cFancy\u201d songstress met the actor while shooting 1991\u2019s The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw. \u201cWe\u2019ve kept in contact with each other over the years, and we both know the same people, so it was [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWhen you have somebody to share the grief with, when you have somebody to share the fun (and) the sad times, it\u2019s always so much better,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd Rex is a very uplifting, positive man, and I love him with all my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer paid tribute to her mother when she announced her death three years ago via X <\/a>(formerly known as Twitter).<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Mother, Jacqueline McEntire, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven today. She had a wonderful, full, healthy life and was absolutely ready to go,\u201d she wrote at the time. \u201cThe cancer might think it won the battle but we\u2019re giving God all the credit on selecting the time for her to go home to Him.\u201d<\/p>\n
