\u201cHad I not been married \u2026 I would have actually hoped we would have had a love affair,\u201d she told fellow \u201cDWTS\u201d alum Cheryl Burke during Sunday\u2019s episode of the \u201cSex, Lies, and Spray Tans\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n
At the time, Brooke was married to ex-husband David Charvet during her winning 2008 appearance on the show, and explained her attraction to Hough (then 23).<\/p>\n
\u201cYou are intertwined with someone\u2019s body when you\u2019re a dancer. There is no way that I have ever been so connected \u2014 besides with a lover or a husband \u2014 than I was with Derek,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo for three months, you are in someone\u2019s arms. Why do you think people fall in love?\u201d Brooke explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt can be more intimate than making love in a bedroom \u2014 you\u2019re making love on a dance floor, you feel more connected. If you have energy, you\u2019re doing this dance and you\u2019re in the rhythm, and then there\u2019s trust, then you\u2019re sharing fear, you\u2019re doing something you\u2019ve never done. How many times do you go through an experience with someone where they\u2019re all you\u2019ve got?\u201d<\/p>\n
Brooke confessed that all that intimacy led her to start \u201ccrushing\u201d on Hough.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was really tough, he was really hard on me. I\u2019m OK with tough love. He did not love me through routines and support me and tell me that it was amazing. He was brutally honest,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
David Charvet and Brooke would later divorce in 2018.<\/p>\n
