– Martin Scorsese had a chat with Edgar Wright at the BFI London Film Festival. <\/p>\n
– When Edgar calls him the spokesperson for the current state of Cinema, Scorsese laughed and said, \u201cI don\u2019t want to be the last line of defense.\u201d <\/p>\n
– On Modern Tech being used by filmmakers: Scorsese said that though with that new technology comes more freedom, it should also cause young filmmakers to \u201crethink what you want to say and how you want to say it.\u201d He added, \u201cIdeally, I hope \u2014 I hesitate to use this word \u2014 \u2018serious\u2019 film could still be made with this new technology and this new world we\u2019re apart of.\u201d<\/p>\n
– Still wants serious movies in theaters again:
\u201cI\u2019m afraid the franchise films will be taking over the theaters,\u201d he said. \u201cI always ask the theater owners to create a space where younger people would say, \u2018We want to see this new film,\u2019 which is not a franchise film, in a theater and share with everybody around them. So that they want to go to the theater, that it\u2019s something inviting that doesn\u2019t get them to say they could see it at home. Because the experience of seeing a film with other people is really still the key, I think.
